Charlton are delighted to confirm the deadline-day signing of attacking midfielder Scott Fraser from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old has proven quality in League One, scoring 20 goals and recording 20 assists during the past two-and-a-half years.
On signing with Charlton, Fraser penned a contract until the summer of 2025, and becomes the Addicks’ fourth addition of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of Chuks Aneke, Juan Castillo and Nile John.
Speaking shortly after signing for the Addicks, Fraser explained how pleased he was to join the club: “I’m looking forward to playing for Charlton. It’s a big club, an ambitious club and I’m happy to be part of it. I’ve spoken to the Manager and to [Director of Recruiting] Steve Gallen – it is a club that has got the ambition to go and do well and that matches mine.”
Addicks Manager, Johnnie Jackson, said: “I’m really happy we’ve been able to bring Scott to the club. He is a player that I have admired from afar for a while, he has such quality and will be an excellent fit in our system.”
Fraser, like Aneke, joins on a three-and-a-half year contract and Owner, Thomas Sandgaard, explained the midfielder can help the club for years to come. He said: “Over the last few transfer windows, we’ve been able to add players on multi-year contracts to help us build for now and the future. Scott is an excellent player, who has plenty of goals and assists in recent seasons. He’ll come in and add attacking quality, so I’m looking forward to watching him play for Charlton.”
Fraser began his career at his local club Dundee United, making his first-team debut in 2014. After games for them in both the Scottish Premiership and Championship, he moved to Burton Albion in 2018, before joining Milton Keynes Dons in 2020. After a stand out season in Milton Keynes, he joined Ipswich Town last summer.
Fraser, who will wear the number 21 at Charlton, won’t be available for the Addicks' game against Portsmouth on Monday night, meaning he could make his debut on Saturday against AFC Wimbledon at The Valley.

Great news and a quality player. I can't see how anyone can be less than delighted with this. Just what we need.

Very quiet from the Gallen-haters You don't seriously think that Gallen will be given any credit for this from his detractors. Neither will TS of course.

Great signing and not before time, it's over a year now since I first mentioned him on here.
Still plenty of dead wood to get shot of including some of those listed above.
I would say that this is at last a marquee signing and is a bit of a head turner, all we need do now is play him in his favourite position where we know he can hurt teams.

Best signing we've made for a while. Honestly didn't think this would happen.

Very quiet from the Gallen-haters Bit of a silly comment really when I said we should sign him and why a year ago long before we were interested. At the time Gallen was focussing his attentions on the likes of David Davies and Matt Smith.

He may have his little black box to help him but pound for pound, based on judging a player or scouting, what ever you want to call it, I'll give him a run for his money any time he likes.

So many people on here have shouted Out loud about getting him. . Well, now we've got him. !!!
A high fee has been paid *(reputedly)
TS he's stumped up money on this squad regardless what some say , yeah he's made MISTAKES , He's still cutting his teeth in football I'm not a happy clapper but believe he is doing his best (on a sensible budget ) and runs the club with his best intentions . Give the man a chance FFS !!!!.
I Used to love this forum , but the negative and nasty comments of late, have disheartened me . COYR.

That's Kirk, Lavelle, Aneke and Fraser in the last six months then.
Some may say it's not enough, and of course they don't always work out, but it does show a willingness to spend some money when the deal is right.

Kirk has already failed & left, Lavelle is out long term injured, and we gave Aneke away for nothing 6 months before we re-signed him. #GallenOut

The Aneke deal was not right and never will be mate while the one for Kirk was rushed. Not saying the calibre of player we are signing isnt getting better, Fraser is the best yet, but that does not detract from the fact that our recruitment strategy has been the worst I have ever known it under Sandgaard and he's far from being out of jail with me until a few more signings of intent arrive.

I used to love my football club but I have been disheartened because of the owner and have stopped going to games because of him. He's brought the criticism on himself without anybody else's help.

At the time Gallen was focussing his attentions on the likes of David Davies and Matt Smith. It's a matter of opinion, but yours and several others was to be detrimental over everything he did. So not really a silly comment. But I am glad that you have acknowledged this signing as a good one. We need to accept that we couldn't compete with Ipswich at the time, but patience sometimes reaps its own rewards.

Hi Reams, I watch plenty of games but I don't study it. Where/what is his best position? I have writing about Fraser on here for over two years KHA and that's all people need to know. I know his game inside out, it's almost been an obsession, I rate him that much. Apparantly though Gallen has become an overnight hero though for doing his job.
