I actually thought we play alright tonight! Rarely in any trouble and we took more risks in the first half. Much better than previous games.

Got absolutely covered in beer at the pub in the garden but bloody loved it! Apart from the disallowed goal. Lost half a pint to that and then nearly a full one to the goal!

Unless they pass us to death I can see there being plenty of space for us. Our attacking players are just as good IMHO so it could be a great match.

I know the Dutch tactics helped but if Spain or France played the way we did 1st 45mins yesterday everyone would be raving about it. That was one.of the best halves of football we've played for a long time. Should of been game over half time.

Agreed that switch did help the Dutch as there was no way they would out play us the way it was going. It will be tough but it's a final. Aside from Rodri amd maybe the keeper do they have many players who would walk into the England team? I also think our squad is stronger and we have match winners to come off the bench.

I have to say, after last night I am strangely positive. As Paulo said, that first half we looked amazing and did more than enough to put the game to bed. Watching Holland revert to route one and stifling the midfield was like watching us 20 years ago, knowing you have been outplayed. Still think Southgate leaves it too late to change things up, but he is a very lucky git and if we are to be the new Germany by winning, bring it on!!!

You mean this level of consistent luck?
In 2018 England loses 3 out of 7 games and ends 4th. You beat the mighty football nations of Panama, Tunesia, Sweden and Columbia!
In 2021 England does beat Germany on it's way to the final, but after that you get Ukraine and Denmark ...
In 2022 England wins vs Senegal and loses vs France.
In 2024 ... well we've all seen it.

So to be frank, during 4 consecutive tournaments you've only beaten Germany in 2021 as one of the big teams when it mattered. With a 4th place + 5-8th in a WC, and 2x Euro finals. 

There is no denying, great results. And I don't mean to rain on your parade, well maybe I do, but fuck me if England hasn't been the luckiest team on earth during the past 6 years.

Yes, you are definitely on to something here - our draws have been very favourable.

But let's not forget, we failed to qualify at all for Euro 2008 and in Euro 2016 we got knocked out by Iceland. So two consecutive finals, even with 'easy' draws, is a massive improvement.

We need to increase our pace up top as I expect Spain to have more possession than us. Sadly, Southgate will likely play Kane and Trippier again, so I can only see a 2-0 loss. Moments ago, a Sky Sports presenter said that dropping Kane would be like Argentina dropping Messi. I could only stare at the TV with a confused look on my face. After watching Charlton last season, we all know how important it is not to have a lop-sided team. I don't think a couple of moments of individual brilliance is going to work against the Spaniards without having a balanced organised team.
