Personally the FA should try and go all out for Carlo Ancelotti. Only a year left on his contract and I'm sure Real Madrid will want Xabi Alonso next rather than renew Carlo's contract.

I suspect we would all want an Englishman if one was good enough but I am not convinced those touted are in that mould. Lee Carsley would suit the FA best as the backroom team are already in place whereas a foreign manager would want his own bods brought in. 
Interesting that Fabio Capello has the best percentage win ratio as an England manager where Southgate comes in 5th.
