I don’t think you can rely on this list much as they have Andy Scott listed at 33/1. His last stint as a manager was 2015, when he was sacked at Aldershot Town.

Be interested to hear Reams view on Nathan Jones if he’s the choice which is looking likely.

Duff would be favourite for me, if he wants the job that is! If they pick Jones, I'm just a little concerned after his time at Southampton.... the pressure he was under would be replicated here. Rowatt would be interesting and I think he'd sort out the defence but, as stated, family commitments/pressures might not make that decision feasible

QPR legend Gareth Ainsworth and Sheffield Wednesday hero Nigel Pearson have both been linked with a return to management following the sacking of Michael Appleton by Charlton Athletic earlier this week.

Pinnochio because we need a puppet that Andy Scott can manipulate. I've seen this type of comment appearing a few times. Care to explain? What information are you basing this on that Andy is manipluating the head coach in any way?

Several people have told me that Scott quote “doesn’t like back chat” ie wants to be the top dog at Sparrows Lane. Appleton was appointed with this in mind IMO. It’s fine being the “top dog” but with that goes responsibility & accountability for shit results. It is inconceivable that Scott can survive a third poor managerial choice.

I don’t think there’s much of an issue in Scott wanting to have a significant amount of responsibility within his role, it’s effectively what the role is anyway. The issue is a lack of identifiable plan whether that’s on the pitch or in the recruitment process, be it players or managers.

Jones seems the only viable option. 1) Very successful at Charlton as reserve team coach. 2)Left and became a successful manager. 3) had a few failures as ALL managers do 4) he is still hungry to build a team from scratch (last Sky interview). 4) does not need time to get to know the Charlton ethic. Only down side is , would he be prepared to take the roll on…..

What if Curtis Flemming goes on a winning run like Johnnie did when he started?

What if Curtis Flemming goes on a winning run like Johnnie did when he started? Well if so we thank him for all he had done and then pick the most suitable candidate. We need a head coach with experience and fully versed in the modern style of management.

If Flemming does a good enough job keeping us clear of the relegation zone it takes the immediate pressure off making a new appointment. It's vital they get this appointment right.

Very impressed with Curtis Fleming and his comments this afternoon.
I know it’s only words at this stage, but great to have a bloke with a bit of passion & charisma at the helm on Saturday.

I've heard the same tbh, that the formation we want to play is his idea and his pissed a few players off as well.

Nathan Jones is a hardcore Jesusist. Not saying whether that's a good or bad thing (and obviously he can be whatever he personally wishes) but it does suggest a belief in the concept of "fate" that I'm not entirely happy with a sports team manager having.

Hope you are back in favour Reams, That would also be good news! Knows his football and talks sense. I would have him at the club all day long but next to Nathan Jones or another high-profile manager. I think that if we don't land our main target we will go with Pearson, Fleming and Euell as a team. Just depends on Pearson's health as he hasn't been too well.

Same, early days but I like the cut of his jib. Old school, no frills, no excuses - get out there and perform.

From his interview, he sounds like the sort of bloke that players should be willing to bust a gut for. He spoke of Bryan Robson's personality as a coach and how players responded. It seems like he's taken a lot of that on board. If he's not given the job, I hope the new manager keeps him as number two. Maybe that would work in Nigel Pearson's favour. Fleming would have the players coming to him first, like a modern day Keith Peacock and that turned out alright.

Cawley throwing Warnock into the frame

Agree that Fleming comes across well but I don’t think he’s the answer right now (maybe he’ll prove to be?)
Personally I’d be delighted with Nathan Jones. He was highly thought of during his time here and went on to do really well at Luton, laying the foundations for where they are now.
I know it didn’t work at Southampton and Stoke but I think both those jobs were incredibly difficult. Stoke were a complete mess when he took over; recently relegated, huge wage bill and a load of players who didn’t want to be there. Similarly, with Southampton he was given a squad that was in decline and was always doomed - things didn’t improve under Selles when he took over.
He rubs people up the wrong way but he’d put a rocket up the arse of some of these players. You won’t see him standing around with his hands in his pocket that’s for sure! Whether he’d come here is a different matter. Maybe he’d see it as an opportunity to rebuild his reputation?

Cawley throwing Warnock into the frame If Warnock came in that would be the end of Fleming because he takes his right hand man, Ronnie Jepson absolutely everywhere with him.
