I think Tracey Leaburn is a huge assett to the club and a nice person too.

Great watch! We've done some good business this transfer window, would've liked to see a left back come in though.

Are they the only players he has had a hand in signing? They were the exceptions….we have also had plenty of dross in on loan also……my nagging thoughts on this transfer window is that all of the players that we have brought in bar Lavelle and Kirk couldn’t actually get a game for their respective clubs…..they look good on paper but the game is played on grass so there is a fair degree of risk involved in our dealings if NA can get them all playing as per there previous form ie Arter and Leko then we will have a pretty decent side to watch…..but a touch of realism is also required here IMO….. Completely agree with this perspective and it means that there’s an element of risk in many of the signings we’ve made. Moreover, unlike what happens when signing young players with potential, there’s no compensating upside. If we do manage to secure an unlikely promotion this season, we’ll likely need another significant rebuild next summer. Unlike what happened in the summer of 2011, we have not built a squad capable of transitioning into the Championship. That said, and as you’ve said, it’s just possible that Arter, Lee and Leko could be consistent match winners for us.

We are at the bottom of League One. It’s a hard sell - “send your elite kids to a team currently struggling in Division 3”. I’m not too hung up on PL kid loans anyway - Gallen has picked quite a few duds in recent seasons. Yep! Cullen Bielik Gallagher! Why so hung up on perfection? Just chillax You can’t keep dining out on the same story!! We clearly haven’t gone the EPL loans route this summer, for whatever reason. As I’ve said many times, Bielik and Cullen were one offs and simply not typical loan players - we were never going to sign their equivalent this summer. Conor Gallagher is a very different case and arguably the perfect EPL loan signing. Unknown and unproven (and hence available), but immediately able to make a significant contribution and headed for much better things. Such players are very hard to find though and either we tried and failed or, perhaps more likely, chose to go a different route.

Maybe the much discussed LB and also back up keeper ? Left back definitely….not so sure about a back up keeper….NA has said they will use the emergency keeper system to cover this….

I felt sure that we were going to end up with Sims for much of the summer. It's very odd that he seems to be pricing himself out of a move?
We're surely well stocked for wingers now.

I would’ve liked Sims, but surely CBT and even Leko, has now put that one to bed ?

I would’ve liked Sims, but surely CBT and even Leko, has now put that one to bed ? I guess that depends on what NA has planned for Leko. If he plays him as a striker with Stockley then I can see Sims being above CBT in the pecking order if he were to sign and since CBT only has a contract for four months, perhaps is a filler until we can get a player of Sims’ ability to join?

If we want a midfield playmaker, Paul Scholes is only 46. Sublime in charity match.

I'm unsure if this is usual for teams prior to covid but I found it interesting that so many league 1 teams are reliant on smaller squads than last season. Net squad size is negative for 17 of the 24 teams in the division this season. Presumably free transfers will be acquired by some but not enough for all to be net zero. Presumably most teams would rather have a handful of academy players as backup rather than paying big wages for reserve players. More about this can be found here if you're curious

Along with their other signings I cant see many being too happy with not being involved in the starting 11. Same goes for Wigan and Ipswich. Hopefully on the contrast our places of CM and wingers give the lads that have something to prove a motivation. As said in the article, a lot will come down to injuries this season. I just think Ipswich especially should have enough, Wigan next up and a then SW fighting it out with around 3-5 teams for play off spots
