Contracts starting to wind down and come to an end in a matter of weeks so will we be looking at and who might be leaving us?
So away we go with the first rumour.
Viv Solomon-Otabor is one of Wigan’s key players who has entered the final few months of his deal at the DW Stadium. He was wanted by fellow League One side Charlton Athletic in January, according to journalist Will Unwin at the time, but he decided to stay with the Latics. The Addicks signed Diallang Jaiyesimi from Swindon Town instead.

I can’t help but think that his agent will have told him to sit tight so that there is a much bigger pay day when he is a free agent. I suspect he will end up at the club that pays his agent the biggest ‘introductory’ fee.

As always there will be a group of prospects applicable to tier 2 and another for tier 3. Logically there will be a group which will be on both lists.
The names mentioned in the 72 article strike me as being in the tier 3 category or just wishful thinking of lazy online journos 🤫

Due to financial tensions caused by Covid, there may be many good players available at a fair price this summer. Clubs that would never part with "Player X" might sell just to make ends meet. We should aggressively use this to our advantage. Given our new ownership, our relative financial stability in this division, our near top 6 finish and London location, if we play out cards right we might emerge with a highly skilled set of players when next season starts without breaking the bank. IF... TS really has the ability to spend, that is. Which I am not as sure of as many other seem to be.

I think he will offset costs by insisting two or three are elevated from the u23's which is a big risk.

COVID still cost us around 12/15 mill plus TS reported he was likey to lose appox £20 mill in the first year that’s just through buying the club all the shit he went through ..... so that a big loss before he starts to think about signing in players think people need to remember this

There can be no excuses mate with the preparation for next season. Just my opinion but having Gallen as no part of the rebuilding process will be a good start.

Initial investment, ie the purchase price, and legal costs etc aren't part of an annual operating loss statement.

Ayoub Assal for AFCW looks very useful as a winger if NADS favours 4.3.3.

I would like to see us go in for Kieran Saddlier.
Rumour was that we were trying to strike a deal for the former Doncaster winger during last summer after he scored 11 goals in League One the previous season whilst also providing 6 assists over 33 appearances.
Instead he opted to go for the Championship with newly-promoted Rotherham but the move hasn't worked out for him having made only 13 appearances although he has missed three months of the season with an ankle ligament injury.
The Haywards Heath-born Republic of Ireland international spent time in Cambridge United and West Ham United's youth set-ups without appearing for the first team. His career took off when he moved across the Irish Sea, scoring prolifically for Cork City and Sligo Rovers. last summer.
At 26 he's at a good age and can play with both feet, as a 10 and on either wing. He's far too good for L1 which is where Rotherham are heading so picking up players of his calibre would be excellent business.

I thought Danny Mayor last night was excellent. But he is getting on a bit. I also like Camara of Plymouth.

Would stockley want league one football again if we don't go up?. Forgot where exactly but I remember Stockley saying how he would like a perm to us. In all honesty he’s not the best at Championship level for me, he’s effective in league one but I think an aspiring team like Charlton is a good fit for him right now rather than a Rotherham or Wycombe type.

I think he's a good player but it means changing the game plan. Luckily adkins likes that plan

Stockley is a good asset as he appears to be a relatively injury free and you know exactly what you get ... a certain consistency.
Whereas Chuks should only be paid by the minute given his continuous injury issues. As an ex physio Nige will be making up his mind whether to offer him a new contract or a good luck for the future conversation at season’s end. The suspicion must be that the gaffer will be looking for a replacement.
It will also be interesting if the gaffer sees Conor Washington in his future plans?

We could be very clever here if we think about it. Rather than let Chuks go why not offer him a one year contract but purely to use as a bargaining tool to use in part exchange for MK Dons' Scott Fraser? We get a great player and Chuks gets to return to his former club where he scored plenty of goals, a bit like Will Grigg has, going back to the Dons from Sunderland.

I like the idea but I can’t see Aneke wanting to go back to MK Dons. He’ll want a Championship club to offer him decent money. This is his best season in terms of goals and I’m not sure he’s ever been a regular (due to injuries). I suspect that his agent will want to get him another two years (plus) on more money than the League One clubs will pay for a player that is available for less than half the games each season.

I can’t believe a championship club would want Aneke . League one is his ceiling level His goal per minute ratio is best in the league, but with glass Achilles it's hardly relevant I guess.

I think on a free he would be of interest to some champ clubs, believing they could manage him properly.Hopefully he's settled with us and will accept an extension if/when offered.Im hoping we'll be able to keep Chuks and convince Stockley to join permanently.Although I imagine it's all up in the air at the moment as our play off chances are still alive.I always find our recruitment interesting, but with NA at the helm now,a large percentage of the squad out of contract, and the prospect(although unlikely) of playing at Champ level this upcoming window will very interesting.
