This to me is a very realistic view of where we are presently….We ain’t blowing away any leagues this season….. I think that's fair. You never know, but that is fair. We have strengthened but probably not enough. Let's hope though I think we'll make the Play-Offs, it's a long season but probably the toughest L1 ever.

Wanted a CDM and a LB.
Got a very decent CB prospect, excellent and I think Sam Lavelle will remind a lot of people of Tom Lockyer - intelligent player, uses head rather than brute force in his defending.
Why we have signed Leko I don't know. Headless chicken. Might be useful as fresh legs trying to score a winner or defend a lead for last ten. No way can he cover Stockley as can't hold the ball up.
Harry Arter could be a great signing, let's see how his fitness is.
I am thinking the Adam Clayton transfer didn't go through? Would be a really strange one as very similar player to Arter when we are crying out for a rangy and physical CDM?
Does seem rather like this wait till the deadline day turned into a couple of favours to SG from Bowyer? Pretty pathetic that
Roddy OUT

This is jumping the gun, but if we hang in there, by the January transfer window we will know better what our most pressing weaknesses are. The games against Oxford, MKD, and Wigan suggested we had weaknesses everywhere. A further note of caution is that not a lot of other teams will be as insubstantial as Crewe were.

Let's take it a month at a time to see whether weaknesses addressed, pace and creativity improved, and where we might be 31 December after 23 games. Impossible to predict before we see a few games but if things gel then we might get close to the 37 points required to be top six AND have a clear understanding of our side. Together with January window activity required to step up. Exactly the same as three years back when Bowyer targeted 17 points every nine games. Obviously not possible in the first nine but...

Hope so mate, our recruitment process was mixed, with some good recruits but we still have gaps which I didn’t think we filled……Last season I think we would have enough within this squad to get to the play offs…this season will be a completely different ball game with the numerous quality squads in league one……..

With all due respect Kevin, you say the same thing every season. We need to get out of this piss pot league as quickly as possible ie this season. If we don’t, it’s likely that more and more fans will lose interest & our latest owner will as well. We don’t need to analyse anything by a spurious deadline.

I'm nothing if not consistent in my approach, embracing the chaos that is CAFC and always open to the possibilities of our side improving with the associated climb up the leagues. At the same time we should be realistic about the journey ahead rather than throwing toys out of the pram or even on the pitch because the owner won't spend millions. If we can win two or three games in September AND play decent attacking football then that will be a helluva lot of progress in just 12 months. And finally I'll always support the lads who wear our shirt together with those who work on the day to day at our club. For that reason the short vid above is very touching.

Just curious why there was not a couple Prem loans in there? We are at the bottom of League One. It’s a hard sell - “send your elite kids to a team currently struggling in Division 3”. I’m not too hung up on PL kid loans anyway - Gallen has picked quite a few duds in recent seasons.

That was a genuinely very warm welcome back to Leko. He clearly fitted in as a character last time he was here. NA was positively beaming. I’m not sure the blouse button fastening shot was needed though….

Just curious why there was not a couple Prem loans in there? I guess the Prem loans at our level will be kids, which is always a risk. For every Gallagher, you get a Matt Smith, for every Bielik there's a Levitt. I thought one of the most interesting parts of this window has been that we've gone for younger players on perm deals and used our loans to acquire players with some degree of experience of the club / the football league - Arter, Leko, Famewo, Lee.

Yep and long may it continue with getting young players in on long term perms…….👍

Yep! Cullen Bielik Gallagher! Why so hung up on perfection? Just chillax Are they the only players he has had a hand in signing? They were the exceptions….we have also had plenty of dross in on loan also……my nagging thoughts on this transfer window is that all of the players that we have brought in bar Lavelle and Kirk couldn’t actually get a game for their respective clubs…..they look good on paper but the game is played on grass so there is a fair degree of risk involved in our dealings if NA can get them all playing as per there previous form ie Arter and Leko then we will have a pretty decent side to watch…..but a touch of realism is also required here IMO…..

It is now about results. No hiding place and very little room for excuses. I reckon we now need to win every game up to and including Lincoln City away to get back on track.

Well done the club for putting that out, very enjoyable watch. Tracey looks as busy as ever. The players really do love her don’t they? She is a real asset to the club. Her husband contributed quite a bit to us too. With Miles in the Academy set up maybe we will have a third father and son to have played for the first team at some point.

There's an episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast where he talks about how important these player liaison officers are to clubs these days.
