How many midfielders do we need FFS .

Leko is just so unnecessary, Clayton likewise. How many windows do we need for Steve Gallen to prove just how shite he is at player recruitment. He throws his cards up in the air and see who lands face up.

No left back then, find that incredible really! No idea what Lavelle is like, but he comes with a lot of games under his belt for a 24 year old, and wasn't he their captain? Johnathon Leko is a strange one, don't really class him as a striker, so do we really need another winger? Personally, I only thought he was ok the first time around and he's had a serious injury since. Not convinced he is what we need! I think we do. If DJ and/or Kirk are out for a couple of weeks we would have a kid playing on the wing. Leko might not go straight into the starting eleven but we need cover for a long season. We already have Blackett-Taylor as back up, he played well tonight. Leko's here now, let's see how NA uses him.

Perhaps it's not the end for Purrington just yet. I don;t mind him to be honest but that's not the point, leaving ourselves short in a crucial position isn't sensible at all and the only person behind that can be Roddy as hit on by KHA before. I'm really uncomfortable that a shit house like him can have so much input in team affairs. Leaving the door open for your son to make a breakthrough is a conflict of interest.

Leko has lots of talent a gaffer like Adkins could get best out of him

Maybe Ronnie isn't the forgotten man after all. Now we have wingers who can run at defenders and get a cross in, this is what he feeds off.

Leko came to us as a winger before, although Bowyer played him more as a striker. I assume Adkins will do the same, in the absence of another recognised striker.
He’s not really needed as a winger is he, we’ve just signed CBT for that role . We seem to have lots of midfielders again, I don’t know how we can fit them in and keep them all happy.
With Arter and Lee, we are stronger in midfield options now, although either Watson or Dobson will probably be in there somewhere. It will be interesting to see the line up and playing style from now .
A stronger squad, will it be enough ? We’ll soon find out.

I don’t know him either. What type of player is he, attacking or defensive?

All I would add is that attacking midfielders get injured and they also get tired especially when playing a high press so we need three decent subs on the hour mark.
Purrington is back in training so the new medical team will have a good handle on when he will be available - best guess is that we are at risk for some / all of September.
As per other posts it's 16 players that will make the bulk of appearances until 1st January so let's watch what Adkins and the lads can deliver these next four games.
And I rated Leko! Not gonna ramble on about theory, just wait for the next time we play. And we can all discuss what we see on a stream or live.

Lavelle - looks to be the best of the deadline day signings. Clearly highly rated at Morecambe and will play a big part at the heart of the defence with or without injuries to Akin and Ryan. Arter - a thumbs up from me and perhaps recognition from the management that Clare and Dobson haven’t looked up for it yet. A loan means we’re not saddled with his wages if he gets a bad injury so a sensible low risk option. Leko - clearly hasn’t impressed at Brum but there’s an electric player in there somewhere. Clayton - further indication of the lack of confidence in the midfielders we’ve brought in on permanents. No LB - I’d echo other posters’ concerns about nepotism.
Overall, Lavelle and Arter make it a more successful deadline day than we’ve had for some time IMHO.

The good news is we have so many midfielders now that Dobson should remain on the bench.

I think that was a good transfer window, we're a few points behind but it's a long season.

I'm pleased with our deadline signings.
Leko did well last time with us before his injury, he's still young and we needed more forward options.
Arter I always rated for his work rate and battling ability. Ok he's 31 now but he's a step up from Pratley and Watson age wise and if he has the right desire to play for us he has better ability too, well I believe so anyway.
Lavelle I don't know much about but he was their captain and with our injury record at the back we need options. I would be very surprised if he doesn't replace Innis sooner rather than later. I like Innis but he's clearly not right fitness wise and because of that he fouls a lot. Elerewe looks good and will be one for the future for sure and another option if needed.
Very concerned about lack of left back signing though like everyone else.

I think that was a good transfer window, we're a few points behind but it's a long season. 8 points off top and 1 point ahead of the champions elect Ipswich…. Not insurmountable atm…

I must say we have done better than I thought we would 24hrs ago. However I still feel the business should have been done earlier and with a bit more investment we may have done better. That said, we have got some decent signings over the line and I hope they gel on the pitch, time will tell but we are currently playing catch up. I really hope it will reduce the negativity among fans ( me included) and we are able to get behind the team. UP THE ADDICKS!!

We've gone from a team that was going to struggle with relegation to a safe mid-table team but that's all really.
Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan will go up automatically. We've played both those teams and got 1 point off them. Play-off mix will probably include Sunderland, Portsmouth, Rotherham and there will be one other place up for grabs, atlhough Ipswich will possibly turn-it around and grab it.
There is always a team that runs in there in the second half of the season so possibly a good January transfer window could see us to do that like Blackpool did last season, but really I'd like to see us "hit the ground running" and aim for top 2 next season if we don't go up this year. In 2011 we did indeed do that, and our only poor spell was around February-March by which time we already had a healthy lead.

After feeling pretty underwhelmed with how the window was going... like many others here... happy to see we got some decent biz done on the final day... no I don't think we'll fly to the top now but I'm interested to see what NA can get out of the new guys, also great to see Elliot having a great game last night... will keep positive! Go Addicks!!!

You'd hope that some blend of Stockley, DJ, Kirk, Leko, Lee and Washington would be able to get goals into the side.
