I still find it interesting that Adkins was so coy. You'd have thought the fact Stockley came out so publically to say how much he wants to be here then for Adkins to give nothing back... If he was interested it would be the perfect opportunity to put off other suitors, something along the lines of 'we're interested but no deal yet' kind of thing. I really hope it comes off he'd be a handful in this league for sure with the right support and delivery - both set pieces and open play. Let's hope PNE play ball with the fee after the amount of targets they've taken from us, and big Pat Bauer. I suspect that Stockley is earning more than we would want to pay - especially if the rumours of what Bauer was offered are true. I doubt that Stockley will be keen to take a pay cut so unless Preston are, literally, going to pay us to take him he might be out of our price range. Thus, both sides will be looking to negoiate Stockley wants to come - presumably on the money he is on now, and we want him to join within our wage structure. In any event, if we are going to bust the bank for him we don't want to do that right at the start of the summer as then all the other player's agents will want more money too. If we are going to sign ten players this summer if each of them earns an exra £2k a week becasue Stockley has signed for us on Championship wages that's £1m a year - which is, I think. 50% of our normal season ticket revenue. Well! This aged well didn't it? ;-)

According to salarysport.com (I've no idea how reliable that is), Stockley is on a weekly wage of £5,100 or an annual salary of £265,200. He's 25 and his contract expires on 30-06-22. I'd be a bit surprised if we don't think that's affordable. The total wage bill in our last promotion season, with Duchatelet as owner, was circa £10.5m, covering 96 full time playing, training and football management staff and and 40 administration, commercial and stadium maintenance staff.

Thanks Mundell that's a good insight, considering the wage cap was 'restricting us' at approx £4k per player, we should be looking at a minimum of £1k pw more than that for key players.

I don't know how much the transfer fee is but was told it is a done deal. No idea when it will be announced. I believe the names of the released players will be announced at the end of the Week. I was told a while ago that Stockley was looking at houses in Chislehurst but I now hear he is moving to Bexley.

I thought the League One Wage Cap was £2.5m which based on a squad of 25 players works out at £100k a year, which is slightly less than £2k a week. Even if you had players under the minimum age and you only had eighteen players that counted the average wage would have stilll been less than £2.7 a week. These figures include bonuses and agent's fees too so that would reduce the maximum basic wage further. I think the £4k figure you have might have been the ramainder of the budget we had left in January but we were, certainly, not paying all our players £4k. That said if Stockley is only on £5k a week then, yes, we sould be able to pay that. I was under the impression that Bauer was pais significantly more than twice that - although I havent read his conract it could have been incorrect hearsay.

I make you right KHA - I wildly over-estimated how much we were allowed to spend. £5k is quite a jump but value for money. He'd be one of our highest paid I'd imagine. That said, Thomas had better get used to those kind of wages as I doubt many in the Championship are earning less than 6/7k per week and even with the £5m television money, still a stretch when you x that by 25.

Would guess around 350/400,000 Where we getting that kind of money from? For one player. You look at Peterborough squad not worth much they received £5m and spent over £2m and are up.But can they stay up?.What will Hull need too spend now £m?.

I think the expense getting in the Championship would be all Sandgaard would swallow alone. During the takeover he was saying he'd likely try to bring in another investor for the Championship > Premiership push.

We make £7m as a club in league one. Current wage bill is £3m At the moment Thomas puts in £11m already.
How can we have a £10m wage bill if Thomas can only put in £13m?.

Who's to say Thomas can only put in £13m? When he took over he was predicting a £20m loss. I would also assume they're banking on fans generating some revenue that wasn't there last year. As well as shedding a bunch of salaries to relocate money. I don't think anybody would be expecting an instant triple and a third of the budget but I'd hope we're near enough that level or the jump to Championship would be impossible.

I posted this comment elsewhere, "Clubs in League One are once again subject to the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP). This is quite different to the Championship’s Financial Fair Play rules.
Under SCMP, clubs in League One can spend a maximum of 60% of their turnover on wages. There are no restrictions on the amount a club can spend or lose on transfer fees.
However, crucially, the SCMP definition of turnover includes donations from owners and injections of equity. In practice, therefore, there is no limit on spending".In other words, Sandgaard can spend what he feels he can afford. There is no other limit. Its also worth bearing in mind that we'll be competing for players who are happy to play in League One and, hence, we're in competition with other League One clubs. In practice, that puts a cap on what we're likely to need to pay to secure the players we want from the pool of players available. We're also in the fortunate position of having lots of players out of contract (or returning to their clubs having been on loan) so we don't have the 'excess legacy wages' some clubs might have. Its possible Sandgaard will set a budget and ask Roddy, Gallen and Adkins to get on with it. Its also possible they'll do it the other way around, put together a shopping list and see what the bill looks like. There are two things Sandgaard will know. First, there is a risk of getting marooned because getting out of League One is not easy and, in principle, the more he pushes the boat out the better our chances. Second, every season the club remains in League One the more money he'll lose while getting no nearer the Premier League. There is a case for swinging for the fence. The challenge is to do so with a good eye and real skill.

Think jfc is staying way jfc was talking in hes interview, atkins really rates him as well I rate JFC - but this can't be a January rehab like some are claiming. If he's really damaged his ACL as harsh as this sounds, I'm not sure it's worth another contract when his wages could be used elsewhere. Unless he's an add-on which Thomas is happy to support.

It looks like Jason Pearce will be staying. Would you keep him? Yes he a leader and winner .. not first choice but a good stand by like to see him take over the under 23 as well and play games to keep fit and sharp in case we have another ridiculous injury crisis
