With all the interest of this weeks signings... We still look goal shy up front. We need a 20 goal man - not sure if Reza or Igor will be that - Piggot and Church not up to it and need to be loaned - so we need a " proper" striker or a target man - somebody to get on the crosses from Gudmundsson - somebody with power and presence - is that O'Grady? This type of striker can dictate a teams style... Do we need more up front?

100% agree Andy
I would like a target man but will that reduce us to hoof ball?
we saw too much of that under the hopeless one!

Agree totally, I fear they are looking at the number of strikers we have rather than the quality.
We have one decent striker Vekotele and Reza on his day as he proved in the World Cup. Our problem has always been an inability to create chances for the strikers, now we have the play makers we don't have the strikers.

I think a goalkeeper is one of the most important. Can't rely on a player stepping up from league 2, no matter how many clean sheets they had

I think the striker and Keeper will be big name signings.

If we get a striker and keeper then I would consider anything aside from a top half finish to be a failed season.

Believe our goals this year will come from a strong mid-field, which will take pressure off the strikers and allow free flowing football.
If only Wiggins can get back to his 1st year form, we'll get crosses into the box along with Wilson and Solly from both flanks.

Wouldn't mind Jelle Vossen from Genk or Higdon from Nijmegen but I have a feeling that whoever it is will only have to travel a short distance possibly from just be from over the River.

It seems it won't just stop at a striker either.
Addicks set for striker deal Saturday, 12 July 2014
By Richard Cawley CHARLTON head coach Bob Peeters has revealed that a striker is set to be signed in time for him to join them on their pre-season training camp in Spain.
The Addicks lost 2-0 at Welling on Saturday and have yet to score in three friendly outings. And Peeters is set to bring in another frontman from overseas.
"There is another striker coming in who will travel with us," said Peeters. "He will instill some quality that is not at this moment on the pitch.
"I can't mention the name until we sign him. Normally he will arrive today and travel tomorrow.
"I'm happy with the second half - the first half we didn't do too well. Okay, we played with mixed teams and they [Welling] played the game of the season.
"But for the first half it was not good enough. In the second half we created some chances and you don't feel it is going to be your day - you can create whatever you want and you're not going to score.
"We see things we already knew and we had to work on. Tomorrow we leave for Spain. It's better you get a little knock on the chin earlier in pre-season than in the competition."

Dick I take it that you say he will be from abroad because Peeters has said that 'He should arrive today'?
So we have a host of names already based in the UK (Let's just hope one of them isn't Maiga) so lets have a look at who it might be coming in to what I would assume will be Heathrow or London City?
How about one of Peeters' best mates in football - Tim Cahill?
Stevie May on a domestic flight from Glasgow?
Bahebeck from France?
Will we return to Holland for Ajax striker and team mate of Gudmoundson in the Iceland squad Kolbeinn Sigþórsson or even his AZ team mate from last season Aron Johannsson, Michael Higdon from NEC Nijmegen maybe?
Holland has been bled dry of it's top strikers over the summer with Pelle & Tadic joining Southampton and Finnbogason, Real Sociedad so you never know. I also think that the transfer fees that we'll pay will increase very soon too now that a majority of the new players are in, flash the money too early and you face inflated prices so we have bought well and sensibly so far.

It was what Cawley said Paul.
The Addicks lost 2-0 at Welling on Saturday and have yet to score in three friendly outings. And Peeters is set to bring in another frontman from overseas.
I have no knowledge of who it is, but I hope it is a decent target man. There were a number of crosses coming in and nobody was attacking them.

Another name who I would love to join us after touting him for the last three years is Jonatan Soriano the former Barcelona B striker who now plays for Red Bull Saltzburg.

There a a few snippets here and there that the striker may be Brazilian.
I just hope that it is not Guly do Prado released by Southampton in May after four years with the club. He's 31 and has had knee problems for 12 months.
