Our style of play is boring, but more concerning is that apart from Bellingham and Walker I think Denmark won most of the personal battles tonight.

However if we get through (which we should) then it will all be forgotten if we progress through the knockout stages.

I'm sensing another Iceland type of performance again though, hope I'm wrong!

I’ve never said this before but I’m beginning to think that maybe it’s time to see if another manager can achieve more with this squad.

What’s more, we managed to make the Final in 2021 and hardly played any exciting football. We didn’t impress much in Quatar either. I don’t mind not winning and I don’t mind us not always playing the best football, but to play such dour football and then still not win anything seems a little pointless, to
me.

Or perhaps at club level, it's the foreign players that make them look better than they really are and the proof is when they cam only play with eachother for England. This is why man City don't but the emgland squad. If England's first 11 was a premier league club they would finish mid table.

You can pretty much guarantee Pep Guardiola would get way more out of this team than Southgate. The players are good enough the manager isn't.

I have felt the same. I'm not a fan of chopping and changing managers, but very few do Southgate's length of term without going stale (obvious exceptions of course). The concentration on shape, after scoring especially, to the exclusion of creativity, must come from the manager surely. This is L1 manager quality imo. TAA is like a rabbit in the headlights and surely we must have a left back in this country better that right back Tripier (not his fault). Everyone it seems can see the issues apart from Southgate. We run the risk of meeting the Germans in the next round if we continue like this

I am beginning to believe GS is a liar. When interviewed he was asked if it was an instruction to drop deep every time England score, and he said it wasn't. If that's the case...

1) Why, in the Serbia game, did he wait so long to make any substitutions? If it's going pear shaped, get the guilty players of the pitch.

2) And more tellingly, if the players aren't following your instructions, (especially as it might cost you your job!) why select the same 11 for your next game?

Look how NJ has hooked off Alfie if he thought it was needed. And no problems dropping players if they weren't doing their jobs!

I think the England players are doing EXACTLY what they're told. But when Southgate is questioned about it, he deflected the blame onto the players.

I watched the Turkey v. Georgia game the other day. It was a cracking game, full of attacking endeavour by both sides. Then compare it to the turgid dross England are serving up...
