As soon as they got their hopes up by not losing against Switzerland I was pretty sure Hungary would beat them. Yeah it was a penalty but the Hungarians didn't have it easy either with their attacker getting wiped out. They hit the post and had way more chances and a perfect breakaway goal, brilliant stuff!

Or wait until he has been sacked and avoid paying compensation to Newcastle?

To be honest I'm not sure that Howe is the answer, but I can't think of anyone ideal, to be honest. It needs to be someone that has a very good knowledge and understanding of tactics. It looks like Southgate doesn't have this.

Watched the game together with the misses, something that very rarely happens. Spend most of the day together outside, since it was the first summer day we've had with 30C degrees. BBQ, glass of pastis, beautiful sunset ... she was definitely in the mood for some shenanigans aftwards! But that game killed my mood completely, to the point where I fell asleep. I'd drop Bellingham alongside Rice. Foden as the 10 and Gordon or Palmer on the left.

Why do players in the England shirt seem to forget they can run with the ball? This thing called dribbling... Everyone turns into Beckham when he'd lost his legs and just pass, pass and pass. So frustrating.

Spot on, 99% of the country can see this apart from Southgate.
Full backs never overlap either, Walkers only attribute is a bit of speed which should be utilised more. Tripper is a complete waste of space.

If it were 0-0 because their goalkeeper played a blinder I'd be fine, but I think we managed just 1 tame shot on goal the whole game. The only positive thing about this England team is we look reasonably sound defensively, but that may be because we played against relatively weak opponents.

Did the Netherlands put out a weakened team yesterday because they'd already qualified? Or maybe because they hoped to finish 3rd and play against England in the last 16?

I think this "3 going through" has never been good for the group stages of tournaments. It was the same in the World Cup while it was adopted there. I'd rather they either had 32 teams, or if they really want 24 then have 4 groups of 6 with 2 progressing from each group but everyone gets 5 group games, which means you'd play 8 games in total if you're going to win, compared to 7 now.
