I thought you said Micheal Duff was incoming? If you read my post says waiting for a championship Job 2 jobs in waiting. Millwall being one which he is no longer interested in. Huddersfield the same.

Just hope this is right, if so I'll excuse the damp squid end of the window. To be fair, Cawley doesn't normally commit to a tweet without it being bang on. That might be true but I just think his tweet is a little bit premature that's all. Clearly they've moved on from where they were around tea-time as I've explained above. I wasn't entirely convinced they would reach an agreement tonight if I'm honest, thought it might be a 'sleep on it' situation so I for one hope he's got his story right. I can't get any clarification my end so hopefully that's because they're crossing the i's and dotting the t's and we'll all wake up in the morning and live happily ever after.

If Jones does become our next manager I wouldn’t be surprised if we went for Harry Cornick in the summer.
Not really getting a look in at Bristol City.
Watch this space.

Jones seems to be our man, an upgrade on what has come before, though there are rumors of eccentricity. It's essential that we support Jones and believe he can lead us to the championship next season and, more importantly, fend off relegation now. Lets not give these underperforming players any more excuses, it's time for us all to get behind the manager and team.

Jones is a strong personality who has a very clear idea on how his team should play, particularly at this level.
He likes to press high up the pitch, win the ball back early, and his own words he demands lots of tackles, shots and crosses from his players.
His teams are high tempo and aggressive - Luton Town certainly were, and I hope we adopt their style of play.
Jones has admitted to having a few rough edges that he needs to work on . He’s mentioned that he takes defeat very badly and gets too down, and that it affects him for days after. I’d much rather have that than a mannequin standing on the touchline, who claims that managerial passion is all an act.
It’s good to finally have a popular Welshman 🏴 associated with CAFC 😉

I can’t remember the last Charlton team with a clear style of play.

I can’t remember a Charlton side fit enough recently to be able to apply a high pressing game This has been a concern of mine. When Appleton came in he mentioned the squad were not fit enough I thought. I didn't see much of a change though. Some of the new signings are clearly off the pace atm, so hard to judge on their ability as anyone unfit looks terrible. Obviously this is a whole new ball game this year with the extended extra time etc. I've been reading about the impact of this on player injuries and it's quite significant.

Lazy slackers like Tennai & Edun won’t last long under this new manager. I’m not one for BB levels of hysterical hyperbole, but I genuinely think we have caught a break if we have got Jones in as our manager.

Press high hard and agressively .like every game is a cup tie or a local derby. The art is to tackle hard but fair, just shy of a foul. Then it will be up to a ref who must accept that football is a contact sport, and won't accept 'play acting'from those that lose the ball. The successful teams have the craft AND the graft.-- Any manager with this style and philosophy, would suit me fine. Sure you have to be fit to mantain this style, but thats what you are getting paid for

Sure you have to be fit to mantain this style, but thats what you are getting paid for Being able to use five substitutes is a real advantage to coaches that want their teams to play with great intensity. Obviously some substitutions are forced by injury, but nowadays can set up a majority of the key players who provide that intensity (midfielders, wing backs, strikers...) to just give you an all out 60 minutes because they can be replaced.

Jones needs a good 18 months minimum to get this right, along with proper backing from the owners and fans.
We can't keep sacking people after 6 months in the job. It's not sustainable.

Our managers / head coaches should certainly last at least a season else something is going badly wrong. After the departures of Fraser and McGrandles we have around 27 players on the books. Half of them are either loans or out of contract in just five months time. That's a massive opportunity to bring in better players over the summer AND balance the squad so as to support the favoured approach / formation. Jones has a reputation for building upon what he finds and it's good to know that he has managed a few of our players before. Ideally there's an announcement later today - let's see.

I'd say the aims right now are clear:
1. Improve the way the current team is playing so we can safely avoid relegation 2. Improve the players individually so they are either good enough to take us forward or can leave as better players. 3. Clear assessment of where we need to strengthen going forward (if we don't do a full rebuild) and targetting the players now. The latter part is where Andy Scott and his scouting team fit into the picture.

While there's an outside chance we stay up this year if Jones manages to actually sure up the defence and get some goals without any wingers in the side, but I certainly hope if the worst happens and we're relegated, that the owners have given Jones assurances there won't be a firesale for our best players, they'll continue to fund for another year and give him resources to aid the rebuild.
With the squad we have I don't think we survive, but if we can get a full rebuild next year with the owner's support then I'd accept it tbh.

May and Ladapo will come good with the addition of Aneke hopefully here and there. I think we will scrape over the line.
