The advanced talks have already taken place so the link is behind the times. Look I really can't say too much but no matter how close the Jones appointment is there is a hurdle to overcome. His assurances have not yet been met in full and unless they are he isn't going to be joining us. It's very much in the balance. We'll soon know because if he nor Rowatt are in the Director's Box on Saturday then I would be confident that talks have broken down. I'm not sure Nathan or Gary want a relegation on their CV but let's be honest there is a real chance that might happen. Let's say Jones does come in and keeps us up there's only one scenario he wants next season and that is promotion. He wants a clear run at it. He has to be a manager not a head coach and no interference can come from elsewhere. Let's not forget Scott's failures at Forest, ultimately Steve Cooper paid the price. Jones needs to make sure he's not the next Andy Scott fall guy. If you ask me, based on titbits I have received throughout the day, I would say its currently 40%/60% against Nathan Jones being our manager. He's no 'yes man' and certainly not to a man who chucked money around at Forest like confetti, all on dud footballers. All that could change though. I believe Cawley said there were talks either yesterday or today.

Excellent managerial appointment. Fair play to the investors for funding this . A real coup IMO. Yep And well played the SMT for execution, especially Scott and whoever else was directly involved in the process. Anybody can play Football Manager but real life recruitment is somewhat different. Let's see whether the club confirm that the appointment is fully signed off, then pause and digest what will be a very different scenario tomorrow / Saturday. Contrast between night and day as we transition from uncertainty (and blame) to having a head coach / manager who has a very decent record at this level. Football. Bloody hell!

The glass half empty tells me to think this is smoke and mirrors for no transfers! I live 15 mins from Luton and all my mates are Luton fans, I am desperate for us to get this over the line! Much prefer Jones to Rowett if if I’m honest.

If we have appointed Nathan Jones as our new manager, this is the first time since Lee Bowyer was in his pomp that I feel optimistic about our chances as a club.

I’m delighted you’re pleased Occam’s Razor I’m conscious you went a bit “All Gas and Gaiters” earlier today so it’s good you’re now more relaxed! All the best Mike PS You know as well as I do that Rich Cawley did not say Andy Scott had nothing to do with the recruitment of our new Head Coach.

This will be fantastic news, much more than I thought would happen. Jones was always the manager that I hoped for. My only concern is what Reams and Cawley have stated, which is it needs to be ‘finalised’. I really hope it is all signed and delivered tomorrow. 🤞🏻.

American investors Gabriel Brener and Joshua Friedman took a more hands-on approach to the process of bringing in the new man after the short tenures of both Dean Holden and Michael Appleton.

Not getting carried away, Jones has an nour to get in a gk, lwb, commanding CB. No.10 and a striker, if he fails I expect him sacked at 11.01 and the search for a new head coach/manager begins again.

I believe Cawley said there were talks either yesterday or today. Just why is it that everything Cawley says must be gospel. We've been a day ahead of him on here for the last six months yet certain people need to hear it from him first! . I’m more interested to hear what Crawley thinks about it tbh.

Just come back after eating my noodles to read the updates. The message above that I wrote was an update from around 6pm. I was asked not to associated it with the club until a bit later on this evening when more should come out. I was told to sit tight as 'One or two things needed to be ironed out but we are within touching distance'. Should certainly be installed for Saturday's game at the latest if negotiations continue at the pace that they are.
I won't reveal the assurances but any manager who comes in having seen two managers go since August is well within his right to ask for them.

They were still chasing one but it's a race against time. They are taking their time announcing the Harrogate lad sop maybe they are waiting to see if they can get another one in and then announce both, who knows?

Cawley backing up what I have shared over the last 24 hours, even to the point of one of the owners coming over..
'The pair are expected to still be at the helm for Saturday’s home match against Derby County.
