No need to apologise mate. You are more than welcome on here. Thank you. I have ties through my mum’s brothers who were staunch Charlton fans. My dad was Millwall (as was his dad) so naturally I was indoctrinated into the fold, although I can remember back in the late 70’s dad and me going with my uncle’s to watch Charlton at the Valley when Millwall were playing away, and likewise my uncle’s coming to The Den when Charlton were away. That sort of thing doesn’t happen anymore, and it certainly wouldn’t have happened if, God forbid, I’d had family members supporting West Ham. That’s one club that would never have got our money.

If we’re serious about progressing it will be Jones or Rowett both have authority and personality I would be delighted with either but leaning towards Rowett.

I don’t understand why people want Rowett over Jones? What is your thinking here?

Someone on the other side saying Rowett has turned us down as he's still being paid (more than we're offering) by Millwall and he wanted more control than he was being offered. Is apparently friendly with Rowett's old man so tend to believe him.

We've gone from promotion contenders to mid table irrelevance and now relegation battlers. We could choose the best manager and still go down. Hope we get Jones and stay up - we just need to survive and reset in the summer.

Not sure who it was though but sounds like it could be Rowett.

Incidently what is our plan C in case Jones is fed up with the pissing around?

I don't think that we are in need of Warnock's survival expertise just yet so who is out there? What kind of manager is out there who would be a good fit to take the club forward. Realistic candidates only please. I will kick it of with Nathan Jones who for me would be the obvious choice along with Michael Duff.

Replace Andy Scott with Steve Brown then go down on bended knee to bring Chris Powell back, our next manager needs to know the club and the fan base.

I don't think still being paid by Millwall makes any difference. That is something he is entitled too due to the circumstances of him leaving them.

Millwall fans slagging off Rowett , perhaps they are worried he might do a good job in charge at Charlton. I can’t remember many complaints when they were fighting for the playoffs over the past few seasons, I bet they would have him back now.

Millwall fans slagging off Rowett , perhaps they are worried he might do a good job in charge at Charlton. I can’t remember many complaints when they were fighting for the playoffs over the past few seasons, I bet they would have him back now. I think a few would want him back, but the majority seem happy with Edwards (as am I) because we are already seeing improvements in the way our players play, and the fact that he recognises that in the Championship you have to have pace and athleticism in your team to do well. This was something Rowett never addressed, wanting instead to keep buying old, crocked midfielders that nobody else seemed to want (many of which were from previous clubs he had managed). As I’ve already said, my worry for you is not that he won’t do a good job at stabilising your club (because he will) but whether you can push on with him at the helm. He’s never managed a team to any promotion before and those last 10 games of last season were terrible to watch and endure. We kept losing to sides below us (which we always seem to do) and it was only by sheer luck that other teams around us ended up drawing or losing, that kept us in sight of the play offs on the last game of the season. I still have nightmares about that last game of last season, going into half time at home against Blackburn, 3-1 up and 45 minutes away from a guaranteed play off place, and his tactics and change of formation caused us to end up losing the game 4-3. It was a game we shouldn’t even had drawn, let alone lost, but Rowett was a major contributor to that defeat and it was obvious in that second half that whatever he said to the players they either didn’t believe or they lacked the conviction to do it. Either way, it was down to Rowett to get the players on board and he failed. The rest was history, all of you had a good laugh at our expense and stupidly we kept him on when we should have parted ways with him and got Edwards in during this summer. We didn’t and the malaise continued this season until our new chairman suddenly realised that enough was enough and Rowett left ‘by mutual consent.’

If all of that is true (and I don't know if it is or not) about Rowett, but it sounds like a medley of every recent Charlton manager in their last months. As nobody at the club will be asking me to choose our next manager, I'll drift towards Jones thanks.

Cawley now reporting that both Neil Warnock and Nathan Jones are in the frame, but that the SMT are split on length of co tracts etc 🤦♂️
Will Methven & Scott please just fuck off.
Get out of the way …leave ….you are a pair of buffoons who’s egos are standing in the way of the club moving forwards.
Let the actual money men make these decisions.
