I have changed the job title, FOR NOW, but I still think he's out the door. He's not coming back from this I can assure you. Tomorrow night will be just a front. I apologise for getting everyone's hopes up but I stand by my sources, they don't feed me rubbish, if I thought they did, I wouldn't share it. Some people will revel in this including the handful of gobshites on another forum but he who lqaughs last, laughs loudest. People can take this or leave it but I honestly believe there is something in the legals that he is clinging onto, like that last piece of turd that just won't let go of the bum hair until that final push releases it! I posted on Saturday night that there were credible rumours swirling that Appleton had been sent down the road, this came from long term & serious Charlton fans, none of whom currently post on forums. There’s long been a weird tradition on the other place that unless you write for a fanzine, or live in Prague, or have supposedly personally interviewed every Charlton manager since 1915 (🙄), you are not in the cool gang, and are therefore not in the know . You can tell just from the amount of traffic on here in recent weeks that there’s definitely been a swing, in terms of who reads what for the breaking news. |

I've just listened to the press conference and I don't take it that's he's asking fans out for a fight!.
He's obviously had some harmful personal stuff said about him that he's not going to repeat(rightly so).
The hands in pockets stuff has nothing to do with it.
He's just said if a fan was face to face to him they may think twice about the insult.
Having said this, I still don't like him and it's not working for him here, so sooner he's replaced now the better.
I still want us to win tomorrow and hope the fans get behind the team. Come on you reds!

Just another mercenary manager. I hope this is his last job in football. Sound like he can always get a job in Cage Fighting!

It would appear Appleton is offering out supporters who criticise him to his face, might get interesting tomorrow night then # I don't think he is. He's just making the point that it's easy to hurl abuse to a screen but it takes a totally different attitude to say something anti-social and spiteful to someone's face. |

Most weird scenario, can't think of anything like it. I'm sure he was "gone" but some sort of hitch has happened and it’s to his advantage to hang about. Most worring thing at the moment is him hanging about may put off any incoming possible signings, we are still short, although it's been a good window to date.

Whatever you think of Appleton , the club (SMT) has handled this appallingly.
We live in an age of 24/7 social media now - it’s not the 1980s where the fanbase relied on Peter Burrows and Charlton Clubcall.
No doubt you will still get some saying the club cannot rebut every rumour but something as serious as this - getting national coverage on social media now - you really need a heavyweight figure at the club (Peter Varney back in the old days) to come out with a statement of either confidence in the manager, or denial.
It’s so typical of this amateurish group on the SMT (Rodwell & Scott) that they have botched it. Im not criticising the investors BTW, but surely they will soon realise that all of their good work in actually investing is being over shadowed by Laurel & Hardy in the SMT.

Something clearly isn't right here. Why was this done by zoom for a start? This was going to be a mutual agreement departure but I suspect he doesn't like the figures and has changed his mind and said, if you want me out, sack me. That way the chances are he comes out of it financially better off. He speaks to Andy Scott every week he said. That's the fucking problem! Two peas in a pod with fuck all football nous between them. He will be gone of that I am sure. I don't know who you know or what you actually know, OK Appleton is not doing well but your continued hounding of him is a little distasteful Reams is not 'Hounding' anyone. Look up the meaning.
