I must admit I don’t know much about eustace, other than he was harshly sacked at Birmingham after a few games . Doesn’t have much experience does he ? That, and that he previously managed Kidderminster and apparently got them playing very nice football. He was also at Birmingham the whole of last season where they finished safe mid-table in spite of being pre-season favourites for the drop.

I'm glad to see the back off Micheal Appleton it was such an underwhelming appointment by the board I'm starting to question the ability off Andy Scott making theses decisions. I've supported this club for 30 years it's the lowest I've felt about the club I feel like the last decade has been a rollercoaster ride. I just hope the board make the right decisions for now on this next appointment is so important to get right. With the candidates list with the bookies at the moment I've had good look two that stand out for me are Micheal Duff and Gary Rowett. That's hope we can get all 3 points Saturday up the addicks!!

Michael Duff gets my vote… for the little it’s worth… need it done sooner rather than later obviously

Why wasn't Coventry played in the Dobson role and Dobson in Coventry role?. Coventry has a far better cross etc then Dobson and can see a pass.

You can talk about 'formations','systems' and 'patterns' but in our situation what we desperately need the new coach/manager to do is;
a - Install a hard work, fighting ethic throughout the squad, block everything, chase and challenge for every ball etc b - Drill and organise the defence and whole team defending c - Get all of them talking to each other particularly AMB and the defenders d - Get AMB to be more decisive and more aggressive in his box (god knows how?) e - Get them all on the front foot, particularly at home to get the fans going.
This is what AS should focus on when selecting someone for the rest of this season. So what if its not pretty, it just needs to be effective! We need points not pretty patterns.

Within 10 mins of Appleton being sacked last night, another “bring back Sir Chris” thread was started on CL.
However, the Sir Chris devotees seem to be dwindling in numbers over the years 😢, with only a handful demanding a return to his stultifying brand of football and performative crowd pleasing on this occasion.
Nostalgia has its place, by these people never seem to call for the return of Lee Bowyer, a far more contemporary and successful CAFC manager 🤔

CAFC now has a Technical Director and a head Coach as well as the SMT. How might that be described as sub-optimal? They will either succeed or fail in 2024 to build upon what they've inherited. Many of the players from the matchday squad 12 months ago have left the club. What most would describe as sub-optimal is conceding a lead once again in the final minutes. What some might describe as incompetent is to play the leading scorer in the division as a right winger! If just having layers of reporting is the key to success then why not add even more? My contention is that they are all mediocre 'yes men' (ie incentivised to remain in their roles by not upsetting anybody or appointing someone who might upset them, rather than take calculated innovative risks). I've noted on other threads that I think May was a poor signing, a type of striker who has virtually disappeared from the modern game with the demise of 442. However playing him on the wing is plainly Appleton's decision - a smart manager would either find a way to accommodate him through the middle or drop him to the bench, start with a balanced lineup and keep him as an option when we're chasing the game. Revisiting this thread and comment seven months on, now that we're on the eve of the new season plus GFP/SE7 have just marked their first anniversary. Having a recognised structure / hierarchy is surely preferable to having none? Methven has moved to CEO in charge of non football activity. It's clear that certain investors had some involvement in the appointment of Nathan Jones and from that we can infer that they're looking for performances and results aligned to our top six budget. It's natural to then conclude that Rodwell, Scott, Jones et al will be held accountable in terms of where the club aims to be next summer. Not about promotion per se but whether we become competing. Let's see where we are after ten games played.
