I would've given him until the end of the transfer window to see what he's working with. Very harsh. And now the players need to get ready for yet another manager.

The club is completely dysfunctional....Holden was given a 3-year contract in March (presumably at the behest of the SE7 consortium). So now they have to pay him off say £1m for the remainder of his contract?

We could make Chuk the manager. He's already on the payroll.

Just caught up on the news. Like with Adkins, there seemed to me, to be no way Holden was going to turn things around. But the timing could hardly be worse in respect of the transfer window.
I just hope that having jumped from the frying pan, we miss the fire.

Most manager pay offs depend on what position the team is in so he'll probably get less than what he would have done being sacked if we were in the top 6

The club is completely dysfunctional....Holden was given a 3-year contract in March (presumably at the behest of the SE7 consortium). So now they have to pay him off say £1m for the remainder of his contract? Andy Scott has been in post a month together with seven weeks at the start of the year. He has been decisive and CAFC might have to pay 6-12 months compensation? Scott has had eight years in recruitment and as Technical Director at four different clubs, mainly at Championship level. He's watched the same games as us, seen the analysis and post match edits / replays. And has delivered that which the Charlton TV panel hinted at in their post match review. That team sheet with three at the back when we don't have any wing backs was a suicide note! Most importantly Scott has been at Sparrows Lane and will have a view as to what this new squad can and should deliver. Let's hope Scott has a decent short list to present to the SMT ASAP. We need to get this next appointment spot on so as to get back on track. A tactical heavyweight who can get the most from the current squad AND hold an adult discussion about 2024 windows plus where we are going as a football club. Posted thanks to Holden elsewhere and would like to repeat those thanks after Holden saw us through the Sandgaard/ SE7 transition. Scott and Holden have seen the departure and replacement of 3/4 of the Garner/Sandgaard/Gallen matchday 18. Massive opportunity next Saturday to start again, especially if Leaburn fit enough for the bench plus one or two final additions.

Neither saw that coming nor get it.
I hope some of those more attuned with what’s going on can give an explanation or, hopefully, lend us some hope.
Unless the next name is in soon, and is of a sufficient calibre, it will be an impossible task to get anyone to sign before the window closes.

a few decent options for us if they'd consider the job?! Moore, Wilder, Bowyer or even Powell(although can't see that one happening) Although reading the last few posts I started feeling even more depressed....please not Lee Johnson

Can't wait to see what players we manage to attract in the next 5 days with an interim manager in charge while this thorough search takes place.
Rightly or wrongly of Holden going, this timing proper sucks.

Feel a bit sorry for Dean Holden, but I’m not surprised. It’s now clear that whet we have under SE7 is what I’ve called a development strategy. That requires the right kind of head coach, one that is tactically astute but most importantly one who is able to improve players, both individually and collectively, and who has an excellent relationship with Andy Scott.
It’s never been obvious that Dean Holden matched this profile and his erratic team selection, changing formations and lack of obvious playing style won’t have helped his cause. As I posted a few weeks back, the improvement in ‘form’ following his appointment last December was an illusion. Our Xg under Holden was a little worse than it has been under Ben Garner, despite the outstanding contribution of Jes Rak Saki in the second half of the season.
What matters now is who gets the job next. Given the strategy I’d expect us to be looking for a Liam Manning, Luke Williams or Brian Barry Murphy type profile. If we go for a Lee Johnson, Chris Wilder, Chris Powell type, it will be time to run for the hills because that would be definitive proof not that we’ve lost the plot but that there isn’t one.
On balance, this is encouraging news. What happens next will tell us a great deal about how SE7 plans to operate.

No issue with them sacking Holden but this is now a massive week for the new ownership. They have to get managerial AND player recruitment right. Make or break for them now.

We are sacking manager at the rate of 1 a season. I guess this means no transfers in as we do not have a manager and first team coaching staff.

This is football and he is the manager. Blame does lay with him. Not all the blame but a considerable amount! I’ve never been sure on Holden. His win rate and our clean sheet % will show you that.

Trying to attract players in to the club in the last week of the transfer window after sacking the manager- LOL. The club is done, fucking basket case and people should stay well away. I’m having a bad day but I genuinely wish I supported another club sometimes.

I should have said sacking managers at more than one aseason. It looks like we have incompetent owners who ever they are again. That are unwilling or unable to spend the money required to get a London based league 1 club any where near promotion. From fire to fire.
