Would suggest Location could be our biggest selling point here as I would imagine other clubs could offer better terms….. I think money will talk here though in the long run…. Remember Dale Stephens wanting to return up north back in the day 😁

Sorba Thomas winger maybe being released from Blackburn. Would fit in. Shame Dack has had two bad injuries. Sam Byram right back from Norwich released.

Gallen missed out on Thomas first time round when he was at Boreham Wood, wouldn’t pay the 300k Dack is pretty settled in Manchester with his glamorous partner…. Looked like he was carrying a bit of timber when he came in against Millwall the other day

Like to see us go back in for tayo edun the left back from blackburn. Was fantastic for Lincoln.
They’d probably let him go for nothing
We need some leaders maybe a years contract for someone like Jake Livermore

My Qpr m8 reckons we signed Luke amos on a free, my other m8 says he injury prone so probably makes sense, but I not seen anything yet.

I get confused in my old age - are we waiting on two lists, the retained list as well as the released list or is it to be assumed that whoever is not on the retained list has been released?
Perhaps a silly question but the tension is gnawing at my gut!

Perhaps a silly question but the tension is gnawing at my gut! I can imagine the list won't be in stone. I.e. We will know who we have released by Monday but we will have some which we hope to keep but may not want to stick around. Depends how you look at it. It's one list (and fill in the blanks) or it's a three part list. Retained, Retained (if they accept our offer) and Released. Edit: also the retained could only be a short term basis. We may still look to offload during the transfer window. E.g. Like Josh Davison last year. So really, it doesn't tell us much other than who we have definitely released.

I think it's the released list that will tell us the most. It is less important if the players we offer contracts to decide to stay, it's about what the benchmark is that we are using. If we release all the players that fans think are not up to the job that's half the job or getting better players in. Clearly it doesn't mean that new signings will be better but it is an indication as to what we can expect if we plan to keep three or four players that the fans believe will never be part of a promotion side/squad.

Ayr United have turned down a bid of 250,000 for striker Dipo Akinyemi . The striker a target for Charlton and Gillingham won championship player of the year for an outstanding season . Akinyemi joined Ayr from non league Welling Utd.

Luke Plange on loan from Palace mentioned, highly rated youngster but didn’t score any goals on loan at Lincoln

The released list is certainly an important part of reorganisation this summer. Hopefully next comes a completed takeover and the announcement of a new SMT, including Holden obviously. Swiftly followed by loan and permanent signings to fill the gaps / improve the side on paper. All this is key to the marketing of our club to the fans and their ST renewals... and also to players and their agents who will want to assess our prospects... and our budgets! Along with academy graduates, coaching improvements from players under contract and signing players on perm deals, perhaps the single most important influence will be the calibre of loans we can secure from London EPL clubs. Five very decent loans could take us a long way towards being a top six contender.

We really must choose incoming players very carefully.. I’d like to see some buys which gives us committed players and assets which in turn could lead to profit on any sales if the players develop…

Still some dead would to shift in my opinion.
McGrandles, Lavelle, Jaiyesemi & Aneke - none of whom are promotion winning players.
Maybe all four will be transfer listed and we can have a rebuild from top to bottom.

I think the only loaned player that Holden will look at closely in pre summer is Mcgrandles, the Cambridge management and supporters raved about him and we didn’t see a fully fit Mcgrandles playing for us last season Agree on the others I can’t see them playing for the club again….. we need better players and I think we will get better players come in

We also need players who can lead themselves! Team and squad progression doesn't happen by magic. No, it's an aggregation of management, tactics and individual development. For each player that's a personal journey which our club needs to facilitate. When we were going nowhere with Garner (except maybe League Two!) Stockley was forever holding his hands up or blaming somebody else for yet another ball that failed to find him or he couldn't win / control. We need players who want to make it to the Championship and have the ability and attitude to make that happen. Those who have not been retained have had their chance but found wanting. We need better, far better so as to get to 80 points, not just 60.

Not a rumour but I watched the L2 play-off fist legt earlier between Bradford and Carlisle. Bradford won 1-0 amd have a player on loan called Scott Banks. Given the success of Jesrun last season, Banks would thrive in our side. He's a very good young player. Carlisle had Owen Moxon who must be one of the best crossers of a ball in the whole EFL. Pin point accuracy and a good palyer too.
I think we#'ll see a few young dynamic players come in with a hunger and an energy that we haven't ween for some time.

Nice to see another admirer of Owen Moxon! Him or Callum Guy from Carlisle id love in our midfield next season. Both are more box to box and defensively sound, something Morgan never was. My current wish list Sam Smith - Cambridge - Free Transfer Alfie May - Cheltenham - Fee (Unlikely, hot property) Jay Stansfield - Fulham - Loan (May go Championship) Owen Moxon - Carlisle - Fee (Budget dependant) Elliot Watt - Salford - Free Transfer Steven Sess - Free Transfer (Still not sure on his fitness levels but would be nice for squad depth) Josh Key - Exeter - Free transfer (May go Championship)
