Re Elerewe: As ever I'm bemused that many of the people on a certain other forum even have the brains to tie their shoelaces.
They're all reading the phrase the phrase "Charlton have a first refusal clause, meaning the club will be made aware, and can match, any offers that come in for him" as meaning we can buy him back for what he sold him for.
They're genuinely all talking about how if someone in future offers 100k we can buy him back for £25k (or whatever we sold him for) and sell him to the bidding club for £100k ourselves.
What part of the phrase WE HAVE TO MATCH THE BID (ie pay £100k ourselves) do these halfheads not understand?
I honestly wonder whether many our fans (not here but on that other site) even graduated kindergarten!

In other notable facts:
Deji Elerewe was the 2022 L1 Apprentice Of The Year.
Zach Mitchell was the 2023 L1 Apprentice Of The Year.
Thierry Small was bought for £3m just after his 17th birthday.
All three are the same age (19-20) and who knows what level any might eventually end up playing the bulk of their careers at.

I honestly wonder whether many our fans (not here but on that other site) even graduated kindergarten! I agree weststandfruitloop These clauses are not always easy to understand and of course we aren’t privy to the contract. However, what sometimes might appear to be attractive can often be fairly meaningless in practice. In this case, I think all that’s being said is that if Peterborough, say, make an offer to Bromley we need to be informed, at which point we can choose to match the bid or better it. Even then, we’d need to convince the player to resign. The only benefit of what’s been agreed, therefore, is that we can’t wake up one morning to find he’s moved on. I suspect the clause is actually of more value to Bromley because it might trigger a bidding war. Re your post elsewhere on Thierry Small, I agree entirely. Elerewe’s move to Bromley is yet another example of how difficult it is to judge the true potential of even very talented young players. It’s not so long ago that fans were concerned about a rumoured move to West Ham. In turn, this means that if a bid comes in from a club higher up the pyramid it can create a real dilemma. Take the money and run or hang on to the player in the hope he might develop? Sell on clauses are, of course, an elegant way of dealing with this uncertainty and work for both selling and buying club. It will be interesting to see how Elerewe develops. I’ve seen him play for Bromley and he seems to be rated there. He’ll play regularly (in a back three I think) and he might just be playing League Two football next season.

Very likely. Jones would have had him at Soton. One of those who has never reached his potential. Youngest player to play for Everton before he joined Southampton. Still only 19, and if Jones (assuming he is manager) can bring the best out of him we could have a real winner.

Revisited this thread after watching the play-off between Donacaster and Crewe last night.
I kept an eye on Adebisi and thought he looked very good game, solid at the back and if we are still interested despite a change of manager then he would be a very good signing.
I know we have changed manager's since but it wasn't Appleton who was keeping tabs on the player it was Andy Scott so maybe we'll step our January interest up over the summer.
Poor old Donny though, exactly the same thing has happened to them as when we knocked them out five years ago.
Won the away leg, lost the home leg then got beat on penalties.

I watched the game and Adebisi was excellent. I notice that Kirk only got on in injury time.

Kirk is a waste of space.
