We are looking to sign full backs on either side and a CB so that Ness can play on his favoured side. The lad Bristow, LB at Tranmere is very highly rated. When you think about it we need to replace Sessegnon, Inniss, Clare, Morgan and Rak-Sakyi who all played quite a bit last season and have all left. That's five players. Reckon we might sign ten in total including loans as well as new arrivals from the Academy. That's a lot of potential to step up from mid-table these last couple of years. Feel we're actually in a good place having had a clear out and ideally just a few weeks from announcing SE7 takeover as complete. In short, three decent permanent signings and three decent loans from London EPL clubs could well push us into the top six with the bookies - currently seventh. three decent signings and three loan players would only bring us back to the same as last year with all the players moving on. We need strength in depth to be top six I think at least six decent permanent top half league one /championship players to stand any chance plus loans especially with our injury record.

Ruben Rodrigues has said he’s definitely leaving Notts County this summer. Would live us to sign him. Langstaff is their top scorer but Rodrigues is their best alround player. Problem is there is probably going to be a lot of interest in him from other clubs higher up the chain

Wasn't talking like for like replacements. Holden, Scott and SE7 Partners clearly think Claire, Inniss and Morgan not good enough for a top six squad, else they would have been offered extensions. It will be harder to replace Sessignon and Rak-Sakyi as they were far better. But if they get this right then we should improve. In response to another point raised we should be looking for permanent, continuous improvement, so not just this window. No, we need the squad to improve all the way upto January 2024, then fine tune, then deliver a run-in just as we did 2018/19. If they manage that with a decent narrative then the fans will start showing up again. Four years ago the crowds increased by around 2,000 at Christmas as people realised we were a contender again.

Gutting that one! On a free as well. Should have been No1 priority, looks an all round beast. Hopefully my anguish will disappear come the end of the week if we land our first signing!!

I told the club that they need to go out and sign this lad at all costs I have no interest in Alfie May at all and won't be impressed if he signs. He's 30 ffs with no sell on value where as Rodrigues has and he'll score goals next season. Compare May with Macaulay Langstaff another Notts County player. He's 26 and scored 73 goals in his last 97 appearences. Please don't say but that's at National League level because County would blow L2 and most of L1 away. Sign Langstaff, he scores 20+ for the next two seasons and when he reaches his prime at 28 he'll be worth a few million. Alfie May my arse.

Clueless scouting set up. Totally none existent, what the fuck does Gallen do? It's going to turn ugly all over again if we aren't on our toes and aware of what out of contract players are out there and clearly there is no evidence to suggest that we are. We all know why we are in this situation so we just have to hope that the EFL are hard at work getting through the OADT. Sandgaard's delaying and delaying to sign the SPA before he did could cost us more players like Rodrigues.

Rodrigues is a no from me, he has played in the National League for Notts Co for the past 3 years, and he is 26 years old, why was he not picked up before now, think we can do better, just my opinion.

He had better players around him last season and his strengths come to the fore. Don't judge a player by the league he plays in mate. Paul Mullin is Championship level for example.

Just a quick reminder Red … as well as the names you mentioned who the new SMT deemed as not being good enough we also have the players loaned out in January who clearly were also not up to scratch.

I get this totally ….but if we get May and that is an if…..I think it shows a considerable step up in the right direction because there would have been no way we would have got him on the last 4-6 windows, the guy is 29 the same age as Yann when he rocked up and our new owners intentions would surely be to get proven league one goal scorers in to get us out of this shit house league as soon as possible…… added to this the guy was a complete pain in the arse against us in all the games he played against us for bang average Cheltenham….. scoring goals out of nothing like he did at the death last month…. This is what we have been missing Just my take on it

I think the issue with players in a lower division is that you never know if they can step up.
I remember the way that Sandgaard was slaughtered last summer as we seemed to be signing free transfers from League Two.
I do agree, though, that we have probably not been as proactive up to now as some other clubs.

Said before the new owners need to go out and head hunt the best they can because IMO this is the most important role in any club…. Look at the way Plymouth, Bolton and Ipswich have gone about their business compared to us

He hasm't got Cheltenham out of the league and we weren't that much better than them last season and that's on a much higher budget.

That’s irrelevant as to me it’s only him and Stockton who really stood out for me when we played them. I think May will be a good signing. As for Rodriguez, I’m not fussed we missed him out. It’s a big step from the National League and everyone was excited when we signed Bonne and look how he turned out. QPR overpaid him IMO.

New to this forum. Have been keeping tabs for a while on Reams updates which have kept me sane so thank you! On a separate note, I am not so convinced by Mullin. It will be interesting to see how he gets on this time round in League 2. If I were to have a choice of the two National League top scorers I would say Langstaff all day long!

Blimey it’s a bit early to making those assumptions 😳 They don’t even own the club yet….. I think we can only start to judge them after their first two complete transfer windows One thing is for sure, I don’t think they bought the club for it to be pissing about in league one for too long, that would make zero sense

If owners cant put more than 13m in a season surely that aids to the assumption that its the EFL thats the problem? Not at the potential new owners not having enough £ ?! Odd take this one.

May IF he comes in won't have anything near that much quality around him. We'll have a go to replicate it im sure but they were one off loan signings.

I don’t really care about resale value if May scores 20-25 goals next season , if Rodrigues is as good as people are going on why’s he going to Oxford lol.

Lets hope this is one off from Oxford's recruitment!
