DP - may I suggest a more accurate description is Graham (26), along with Ogilvie (25) (left back/ centre back) and Bonham (25) goalkeeper have all exercised their rights under Bosman. I know Gillingham is not where you would normally think of going shopping but though I cannot stand the style of the guy Steve Evans does have an eye for a decent player. Though Graham’s numbers are just for one season, he was well thought of at Wolves but had a gentleman’s disagreement with Nunos Dis Santos who wanted him to play wing back. Graham didn’t. For me though a couple of years older than my preferred target range he has pace and creativity. So a definite yes for me. Ogilvie who scored that wonder goal against us has a decent pedigree coming through the ranks at Tottenham and now has done 3 years in the trenches in League 1. Bonham after his early challenges at Brentford has been an ever present for 3 seasons in League 1. I suspect all 3 will be looking to step up, with a real opportunity to continue their first team careers (I.e not sit on a Championship club bench) and are local. For me they all have an upside without us having to break the bank. PS Doesn’t mean we cannot be spending reasonably elsewhere Interesting and informative post grapevine49 Very pleased to see your all your recent comments. I hope you’ll post regularly.

Have heard from someone that his mate has spoken to Pearce and literally everyone is going. Pearce himself has been offered a coaching job for the Under 23s. But it is a proper clearout . Chuks Aneke has received lots of offers from Championship Clubs. That come from some bloke on CL ..

If three players have said they are off can we assume the others have been offered deals or just not been spoke to yet?

I wonder how Josh Davison will fit in to the scheme of things, if he is staying (I don't know where he stands contract wise).

I think JD has another year. Much I suspect will depend on his pre-season on whether he stays or goes on loan for another development year. There is something there but he has hardly pulled up any trees in L2 or the NL

Watson needs to be shown the door sharpish too. He will be neither use or ornament next season. Hard to see him improving. Equally hard to understand why his performances dropped from the level they were at Forest. It’s called anno domini and time called up with Ben last summer!

He is a hard running hard working kind of player, scored a good goal for Forest GR the other day. I reckon our ambitions might be for a greater kind of level of player now we have a new owner and it is for JD to up his game even more. I kind of like his honest approach.

It looks like we are favourites to sign Randall Williams from Exeter. I must admit I know nothing about him.

I’ve been told this morning that went got a firm interest in Todd Kane from QPR on a free transfer. Right back /right mid but can also play left back ... was at Hull before QPR QPR want to bring in a right-back this summer. There seems to be no way back for Todd Kane at Rangers, who are looking to sign someone to compete for a place with Osman Kakay. Kane has not started a game since manager Mark Warburton became aware of an interview in which the former Chelsea trainee insisted he was a better player than Kakay. He claimed to have been wanted by Sheffield United for £13m while Kakay was playing on loan in the Scottish second tier. Kane, who has a year remaining on his QPR contract, was recently fined £6,000 and banned for seven matches for using abusive language "referencing nationality or ethnicity" towards Sergi Canos in February’s game against Brentford. He was already very much out of favour with Warburton for the remarks about Kakay, who is a popular figure within the club and much admired for his work-ethic and dedication.

Can only pass on what I have been told, that we have definite interest in the player. No doubt his misdemeanour - for which he rightly paid a penalty - would set off the CAST types in our fanbase. Richard Wiseman is still coming to terms with Lee Bowyer having a fight in McDonalds 25 years ago.

Probably more pointing out the fact certain CAST members were bringing up the bowyer incident two decades later so this would obviously be an issue as it was so recent.

Todd Kane (from my pal)
“He’s the most hated man at the club. As a player he’s not bad. Gets up and down. Did brilliantly on loan at Hull...who’s manager was .....”
( I assume it was Adkins)

Kane is 27 and wouldn't be an upgrade on Matthews.
So unless Adam wants to leave it's a no from me.

For where we are now I would view Kane as an upgrade. He brings a physical edge to his game which we need and he has had a couple of very decent seasons with QPR after a very good season at Hull. I view him as a better defender than Matthews while his goals and assists are not too shabby either. I find Matthews neither compelling in attack or defence. Kane is 27 and Matthews is 29. if we are talking 3yr contracts which we should be at this stage I see Kane offering better value. I cannot speak to his character but the Sky report on the Canos incident seems to bring some balance to the issues involved. On balance Kane is a yes from me.

Watching the U18’s and thinking about our good record at producing players, and Adkins and TS keen on getting players through, it looks like a very skilled job signing players whilst having a mind about who is coming through. I suppose that influences the length of contracts we offer, but then again Jayasemi has a long contract. I wonder if we have as good as him coming through the ranks and if his long contract will somehow stifle the progress of home grown players. With a mind to developing our own, I would prefer to only loan really good players from the top league, not a makeweight like Matt Smith or that Levitt from ManU. I would rather see more of our own youngsters in that kind of situation.
