Watching the U18’s and thinking about our good record at producing players, and Adkins and TS keen on getting players through, it looks like a very skilled job signing players whilst having a mind about who is coming through. I suppose that influences the length of contracts we offer, but then again Jayasemi has a long contract. I wonder if we have as good as him coming through the ranks and if his long contract will somehow stifle the progress of home grown players. With a mind to developing our own, I would prefer to only loan really good players from the top league, not a makeweight like Matt Smith or that Levitt from ManU. I would rather see more of our own youngsters in that kind of situation. I don’t disagree about signing average players on loan but I would rather have a Belik or a Gallagher than one of our youth players with a fraction of the talent.

I think this is a fine balancing act between bringing in experienced role models that can impact both the First Team and the under 18’s. I’m not in favour of throwing in kids unless they’re ready and can step up…. Over recent years we’ve seen this with Piggott, Grant, Lapslie, where other posters have dismissed their ability, albeit against a background of having no alternative choice….

Notts Forest want Joe Pigott ....... End for Taylor I can’t see anyone else taking him and paying him what he’s on now. Unless Forest pay him to leave he’ll sit on their bench for the rest of his career. In ten years even he will think he was too greedy for his own good.

Todd Kane (from my pal) “He’s the most hated man at the club. As a player he’s not bad. Gets up and down. Did brilliantly on loan at Hull...who’s manager was .....” ( I assume it was Adkins) Any idea why he’s so despised? He was given a lengthy ban for making a racist comment to a Brentford player. I am guessing that QPR have a lot of black players & it’s caused unrest.

I can see the financial attraction of Notts Forest but will Piggott really be given the chance to win the starting role with Taylor and Grabban still there. How long was Taylor given a chance to settle? AFCW are still hopeful he may still sign into their project. It has taken what 5yrs for him to secure his starting spot. Is he really going to give that up only to sit on another bench when he is in his prime?. Is Chris Hughton really not going to be shopping in the PL?

All good points but c, £20k a week for the player and no transfer fee for the club? Even if it’s £10k a week it, potentially, sets young Piggott up for the rest of his life.

I cannot disagree but I am not sure after recent years Forest will be offering £20k I believe they have FFP problems. Harry Arter is reported to be on £40k a week and was not even in the listed 25 for the last half of the season. I do not necessarily believe those numbers but as with the loans for Murray and Knockaert he will not have come cheap. I would have thought as a Bosman striker with the past season a few clubs will be offering decent money. I like Chris Hughton but it just seems odd with the scale of the rebuild he has on his hands JP would be seen as his No1 target.

I’m hoping for some decent players on decent length contracts. Constant churn of players (not just talking loans) doesn’t help fans build a connection with the team.
I felt nothing really with this last lot. No Charlton men (except Pearce) and no really good players.

We should get the released list on Monday. This will tell us what the plan is for next season.

We should get the released list on Monday. This will tell us what the plan is for next season. At the risk of sounding a little negative, the fact that we were told we would have a released list at the end of last week and we didn’t get one means that either the club misled us or they are not organised enough to just release players. If it’s the latter is doesn’t bode well for the massive rebuild necessary.

The reason it is being delayed is because negotiations are taking place and they won't issue a definitive list until they have ended.

I agree it is a little frustrating for us but it will be nothing to those who need to find pastures new and a decent pay cheque to go with it. I know with our experiences of the last few years we are desperate for any and every sign of a brave new world but the underlying message for many involved is entirely negative. Maybe Mr Sandgaard wants to throw a few positive messages in the mix.

Maybe Mr Sandgaard wants to throw a few positive messages in the mix. I’m impatient but realistic. I’m not bothered that the club haven’t told me. Just worried that their estimate of doing the deals they wanted was that it would be done by Friday, and it is not. If they couldn’t accurately predict how long it would take to do deals with men that they know well then why should we have any faith that they can build the squad we need. They could have said that they would be discussing things with the players over the next two to three weeks so that all players would know they’re future by the end of May. Instead they said that they would tell us by the 14th May - and then they didn’t tell us, or explain why they hadn’t.

Having watched the under 18s yesterday ( I realise the majority aren't ready yet) I think the future looks even brighter! Not one of our players had a bad game, the odd mistake yes, but you would expect that. I would go as far to say that a good 50% of the team look stars of the future. This may also have some bearing on who gets released.

Any actual transfer rumours relating to players linked with a move to us? Why does this thread keep going odd topic?

I seem to remember reading that JPs family had serious money, so doubt he will want a move to sit on a bench to watch his bank balance grow.

Just read that Bonne scored 3 in 34 for QPR. Never thought he was worth money they spent. Wonder how much the Ipswich lad is worth? Clearly cutting their losses with Bonne tho

We are linked with 5 players today @dickplumb and reamsofverse1. Billy Bodin. Released by Preston, but had a good goal scoring record in L2 when with Bristol Rovers. He’s a free agent. 2. Carlos Mendes Gomes The name is deceptive. He plays for Morecambe. His stats in L2 this season were excellent. He’s a highly rated 22 year old. 3. Jordan Graham Gillingham’s best player last season. Very high number of assists as L1 level. 4. Josh Sims Highly rated Southampton kid. Winger. Would be a season long loan. A lot of Championship clubs fancy him, and unlike with Chuks Aneke, this is true. 5. Owen Dale. From Crewe. Don’t know much about him, but he’s a player that Adkins is interested in. You can thank me in August

Would be impressed if we managed to land Dale, seems to have many admirers some Championship interest too.Not sure if Charlie Kirk interest will be revived,or DJ's signing has us covered there. Like the ages of these two targets IF there is genuine interest (22 & 23) trying to aquire young talent, who have proven themselves at this level, and can hopefully push us on.
