If there was real interest from other clubs, I hope we slap a decent contract in front of him once this is all over to make up for the fact he's missed out on potentially his last chance at a decent pay day. I doubt he would want to leave for any other reason than a big pay increase. He has watched a few of our player leave to earn a lot more than they earned with us, and is aware at his age he might not get another chance of big money. Why not give him the same form of wages that they are offering in a new contract , he has earned it.

I don’t think Lyle Taylor is a happy man.
Hunch - he wants a move today, but doesn’t want to damage his cult status with the kids if he doesn’t get one.

Don’t understand why they don’t just offer him the sort of money they would have to pay Toney...
Toney wouldn’t sign for £4million and be paid £5k a week so we will have to pay him more so just pay Lyle , for all his faults he’s been the heartbeat of the team in recent times , he the guy that kids wanna meet , he’s the guy who’s name the kids want on their shirts..

Also as stated earlier in this thread , why would Lyle sulk if he has to stay...? People keep saying it but I’ve not seen one state a logical reason why he would..
It’s his final year of his contract , he can only gain a lucrative move if he performs , he can’t get his agent to go to clubs in June and say “I know he only scored 5 goals all season , it’s just he was sulking at not getting a move.... I promise he won’t sulk for you if you sign him and pay him £20k a week....”
He stays , he has to play , he has to perform for himself more than anything...

I agree, but I wonder if it's to do with his age? If we gave him a three year deal on big money, it's unlikely we'd get any resale money from him. With someone like Toney, for example, if he turned out to be a success we could theoretically flog him for a profit in a year or two.

If Taylor wont sign his new contract, he'll either be sold today or in January, I definitely cannot see the club just letting him run his contract down!

That Sammy 05 doesn't seem to have a clue.
On 22nd July he tweeted that Taylor was signing a new contract and that Otzumer had signed.
Also blames agents for Konsa, Lookman & Gonez departures.

Probably a lot will depend on who we can get in quick, as time is running out, plus LB negotiations with the owner.
LT is at his most valuable now, his value will be far less in January. If Brentford or another club come back with an offer of 4 million, I really can’t see it being turned down.
The question is, and very few know the answer, does he really want to leave, or is he happy to stay, with a new contract which is similar to what he can get elsewhere.?
I can’t see why he would suddenly be unhappy. He certainly wasn’t unhappy after Saturday. The only thing I can think, is that players like AD have spoken to him about the money they have been offered, and he has maybe understandably become unsettled.
I don’t believe that LB will want to keep him, if he wants away, even if he can, but that’s just my opinion. As I said elsewhere, for me, the best solution would be to for LT to sign a new much improved contract today.
We will just need to wait and see. It’s a busy day for LB and SG for sure, whatever happens with Lyle Taylor.

More likely he'll go id say but we will too know. I hope to be surprised but we don't want him about if he's not up for playing.

With the Lookman sell on money and the Dijksteel deal, we don't have to take a low offer. There's three of four million banked already so perhaps it will take a silly bid to see Taylor move. For it's going to be expensive to replace him, especially at short notice.

His skills, his athleticism his interaction with fans and the team embodies the spirit of the club and rouses us on match days to be loud and proud.

Our only choice is to get on with some work this afternoon (!) and to roll up to the Valley on Saturday to cheer on the lads.

You neglect to mention in your latest pro RD soliloquy that the Lookman sell on money went straight into the Belgian wallet. Remember when he sold our then best player - Ricky Holmes - during a previous January transfer window ?

I really hope for the sake of the team, the fans and the club, that he stays, but I’m not confident.
A four million + offer , especially at Lyles age, will seriously test RD resolve, whatever LB thinks
If he is allowed to leave, I sincerely hope it’s not until a proper standard replacement has already been signed.

Not much hope of that with only hours to go. And who is there?
