It would be mad to sell him. It would dramatically reduce our chances of staying up.

Others reporting that possible loans for young strikers now wavering because they don't want to send them here if Taylor is gone and the loanee would be unprotected or have no one to play with. This makes total sense. Roland does not see how so many things are connected.

Taylor is going nowhere , let him spit his dummy out all he wants , sulking and not scoring goals this season is going to hurt him just as much as it is us...
Anyone who watches NFL regularly will know most players out there perform remarkably well when they are in their final year of their contract and conversely after signing a $40million contract guaranteed , all of a sudden their play drops off.... 🤔

I don't know why but I've got a feeling that Lyle Taylor will be staying.

Let’s wait until LB or LT confirms that he doesn’t want to play for us anymore, and is trying to force a move before we get too wound up.
If true, there will be a massive fans reaction, apart from a massive affect on the team so late in the transfer window.

Lyle Taylor doesn't seem to be the type of player to spit his dummy out and start demanding a move. Have we had an official reason why he missed training yesterday?

Someone has told me that Bowyer & Taylor have had a bust up today. No idea if it is accurate, although the info came from someone who has told me accurate stuff before. Bad news if true. This leads to one of two conclusions - Taylor signs an improved deal with us this week, or Taylor is sold from under us this week. Saw this earlier today, when it came out it was from someone on facebook and they said they saw him 'storm out' Whilst I don't believe your source, I csnt see Taylor being that type. Obvious it may not be the same source, but this was the first I saw of it hours ago Last season Oxford, someone started a rumour Ben Purrington had a row, and was seen at the station.. He was ill.

One of his last messages was something about having patience? Granted it's frustrating for all of us to be in the dark for the next 17 hours or so, but I'm willing to go with my unaccountable feeling at this point.

I have no idea if there is been a row, a dummy spat out or sulking but the club can not be bullied into selling a player that we want to keep or we think is worth more that the offer price or it will just encourage other players to behave the same way.
In many respects the fans have been causing trouble to try to get Roland to sell the club cheap (or give it away) and he hasn’t folded so there is no reason to believe that he will so so now.
Last summer Roland refused to sell Bauer after he made it clear that he would not sign a new contract with us, in any circumstances, and he left for nothing - which is exactly what most people knew he would do. I think we should keep Taylor, even if it means he leaves for nothing next summer. For the record I agreed with the logic of selling Grant and Djksteel, and keeping Bauer. Joe Aribo was a difficult one to call. As has been said in here by Essex Al, the club can’t win. Either players are sold which the fans don’t like, or they leave when their contracts run out, which the fans don’t like, or they give out contracts that scare away any potential new owners, which the fans don’t like. The reality is that you can’t win - certain sections of the fan base will never be happy.
I think that anything less than a stellar transfer fee and Lyle should be told to honour the two year deal he signed last summer. When he is 31, next summer, he can leave for free if he wants to - which is, exactly, what he did at AFC Wimbledon to our benefit.

I doubt Taylor is even on £3500 per week wages. Bowyer says publicly he will score 20 goals this season. The average wage in this division is £20,000/wk. What would you do? It’s not that he “wants to leave” but Rat is probably offering half what every other club would offer, or less. Anyone who CAN leave under such circumstances WILL leave.

That may be true, but a contract is a contract. Lyle Taylor signed a two-year deal and had he failed, like Nicky Ajose, for example, the club would have continued to pay him. Players can’t have it both ways. My instinct here is that if Lee Bowyer believes that Taylor will commit and perform even if ‘forced’ to stay, the owner will hold the line. Might just be wishful thinking, of course.

They might want to, but it cuts both ways when players sign contracts. We had to, literally, pay players for years while we didn’t want them after we gave them contracts. Either the players have multi-year contracts with security and guaranteed incomes or they are free to leave whenever they want to. If Lyle had broken his leg ten months ago he would still be being paid, even if he was not able to play for us again. If they sign contracts they have to be prepared to honour them - just like the clubs do.

Personally I’d make him stay and see out his contract , players cannot have it both ways. They in in a privileged profession , he signed a two year contract so get on with it.
Unless Bows wants to sell of course. Want to say more but I will hold fire until 5pm tomorrow.

When it comes to cryptic messages he's no Eric Cantona.

I'd give him a bigger contract, he's an excellent player. As for rumours about his behaviour, are they from the same rumour mill that has promised us a new owner every 5 minutes for the last 2 years?

it is hard to overestimate how good lyle Taylor is. The Blackburn goal wow! To get into that position to see the chance to make the whole body adjustment and get the timing right all in a split second it was a wonder goal! Then the dexterity and the control he showed in that interception to set up albi and jakes opportunity at the end. Then chasing back to spoil black burns counter near the end. Bows is right he's become the complete striker and is rightly admired feared and valued. He bears the colours with pride and we should hail him wholeheartedly.

Lyle is better than we probably realise and getting better. He hasn't peaked . He hasn't made the big money and will want to be at the top of his game for a few years yet. I don't want to sell him and replace him with an 18 year old loan player or someone with a 1 in 4 strike rate. Of course he wants a payday, but why let Boro benefit from him when we can have a great season?

I find him irreplaceable for 2019-20.

Many things might happen by the close of the window... loans arriving... outbid by competition... big silly money bid for Taylor. We can only wait and see, and then appraise the squad once the window closes. Taylor is a talent and a talisman for us so let's hope hes playing vs Stoke on Saturday.

Taylor not going anywhere.... Start worrying if he puts in a transfer request like Zaha , and even then Bows will make him stay..

If there was real interest from other clubs, I hope we slap a decent contract in front of him once this is all over to make up for the fact he's missed out on potentially his last chance at a decent pay day.
