It does feel a bit like the circus is coming to town…..I could understand it if it was Man City in the sixth round of the FA cup but Wrexham in a bread and butter league one fixture I can’t quite get my head around it all Fair play the ground will be 6/8 full today with all the day trippers and Hollywood fans but personally I would prefer our club ensure as a priority that we have a squad with a bit of quality in depth so we can cope with losing our best two players this season rather than promoting half and half football scarfs or installing five a side football pitches in the car park so the kids of the 10k die hards can have a kickabout before the game Imagine if we showed the same ambition as the likes of Birmingham and Wrexham with their teams heading upwards through the leagues and their grounds full to capacity every home game…wouldn’t that be a better strategy than some of the embarrassing stuff going on today with other clubs fans quite rightly taking the piss out of us over the half and half scarfs Sounds like The Valley will be 80% full today. We've heard from the club there will be 1,000+ international arrivals plus 4,000 new to the Valley (not on the club database?). But what of the 7-8,000 other sales which are neither ST nor away end? The clear inference is that this number is made up of walk up CAFC fans (on the database) who go to games occasionally. That plus the 500 Red, White and Black day freebies. As you ask, how many will return to future home games? Time will tell, but I'd put money on our average gate rising as long as we stay in touch with the play-offs. As for strengthening the squad, most would agree that we need more talent in January. Ideally Jones and Ramsay will be back by then but we just don't know for sure. Between now and then the lads need to soldier on, and the management needs to evolve our style and attacking endeavours. We might not compete with Birmingham, but we absolutely should be competing with those clubs with 9-10,000 gates just above us.

We might not compete with Birmingham, but we absolutely should be competing with those clubs with 9-10,000 gates just above us. I don’t think you will see Ramsay back by January…. but I don’t think you will have anyone disagreeing with you that we need to recruit more talent in January…..the problem here is we had the opportunity to recruit real quality players in the summer as there were a few around available, some on frees and we brought in what we brought in…….The best player on the park at Oakwell on Tuesday joined them on a free in the summer and the second best player on the pitch that night joined them on a fee from Mansfield after he scored a hatful of goals for them……just the type of creative players that would have put us so much closer to a top 6 place.. January windows are notoriously bad for picking up talent…..clubs now days would rather keep their best players with 6 months left and lose them for nowt in the summer rather than let them go…..so all you are left with is players that are surplus to requirements with their clubs…the type of player we have regularly recruited in the past….and you have to wonder if there would be a budget available regardless…

Early evidence at 1:30pm would suggest the half 'n half scarves have been proven a hit....

The day trippers were the predictable pain the arse.. not remembering where their seats were whilst juggling plates of chips.. many missed 15 minutes of the second half and many left early causing lots of standing up and blocked views.. you wouldn’t mess about at the theatre FFS! Watch the game..

Watch the game.. There definitely was an annoying number of people coming back and forth in the Upper West. I'd also forgotten how uncomfortably busy the concourses can be when we have a big crowd (though must have been like that for years in the Prem though); the tiny ones in the Upper West really aren't fit for purpose.

Watch the game.. We had this issue many times West Upper. We couldn’t get a drink neither as the queues were massive. If Charlton finally get their arses in gear they really need to sort this out.
