Taking some comfort in the fact we've got an academy top two, without our best CB and CM and still coached in such a way that we've taken the game to a far more expensive team made up of players who wouldn't be out of place in the Championship (Khela, Jutk, Roberts, Leonard, Sanderson).
Not too bothered if we're out of this one, save the fitness of key players, but at least we haven't rolled over.

Thats a shocking penalty, I didn’t rate Campbell last season and was expecting something different from all the hype from fans yet to see what the fuss was about

Similar to Saturday, we manage to get into good areas of the pitch, but our efforts lack penetration and quality, making them somewhat ineffective. However, our closing down is acceptable.

The difference in passing and movement between the two sides is pretty plain to see…..but we are still in the game and I think we have a goal in us….
Their quality on the ball is bypassing our press at will…….

Campbell and Kanu are not only too far apart, they are also technically poor.
The owners dont want to bring players in to block their path something I am very critical of because they are nowhere near good enough.
I have said since Wigan that give me experience over youth anytime. Just look at Jutkiewicz tonigh. 35 years old and pulling our defenders everywhere.

Anderson and Kanu really shouldn’t be anywhere near a starting lineup for us. Both need league two loans. Where’s Terry Taylor gone ?
Don’t get me started on Campbell . Why is he taking a penalty , he has no composure. The kids put a couple of pounds of muscle on and people are going on about him being a golden boot winner this year ffs

I've seen enough in that first half that the squad just isn't good enough. It's the same every year. Decent 15 players but the rest are nowhere near the level needed.
All huff and puff but no end product.

I know it's early days into the season and we've made a few changes tonight but at present we don't look like a top 6 side hopefully we add some quality before the window closes can't rely on the likes of Campbell and Kanu all season we really do look toothless up top.

I don’t know if it’s the couple of screaming orgasam that I have just had but Birmingham look like they have spent millions on their squad whilst we look like a side like last season that is just getting by.

All huff and puff but no end product. I think that’s incredibly harsh. We are playing a Birmingham side who have signed single players worth more than our entire squad. And we have arguably had the better chances of the half. |

Just knew that Campbell was going to miss that penalty!
Press was good for a while, but now they are just playing round us.
Same old problem at corners/free kicks in that they are winning all of them in the air!
No punch up front at all, Kanu anonymous, needs changing pronto. Berry has had three reasonable chances.
Unfortunately they are looking better than us at the moment!

Can anyone tell me why we have a high press in their half but no press in our own when an opposing player is running 10 yards with the ball before picking his spot?
Where are the hordes of defensive midfielders we have in the squad?

It pains me to say this, and I hope I'm proven wrong, but Kanu, TC, and Anderson seem to be well below the required standard. I know they're young, and I might get some criticism for saying this, but it can be so frustrating to watch at times as there is no quality on the ball. It's like having 3 Forrest Gumps.

Tonight shows how weak the squad is. Campbell, Anderson and Kanu are technically not good enough. We need to exercise the loan market as there is no quality in the attacking half of the pitch. And who gave Campbell the job of taking penalties?
