Oh come on. We have seen and will see a lot better players than him in a Charlton shirt. Jones sold a load of fan favourites at Luton and they went up as champions. If it doesn't work for him then so be it COYR. Last time we sold a striker worth his sort in goal was Yann kermorgant .Look how that turned out. I think if we get £1M plus for a May it will be good business only if we can replace him with a younger player who has a much higher potential and ceiling who suits NJ style that will be able to grow with the club and ultimately suit the teams style of play. Remember May cost the club what 250k. Financially if we get a million for him in one season that’s great business, especially considering he isn’t going to be a mainstay in NJ side. People need to relax, some of you act as if you think you should be in sparrows lane making the decisions. NJ was bought in for a reason we have seen his last successes with Luton and it was similar to this where he got rid of players he didn’t want regardless of whether they were fan favourites. I’m happy for the risk to be taken because we have to try a different approach to being a nice club who keep players who are fan favourites no matter if the manger don’t want them because look where that has got us the last few years! Dobson people liked but he was not gonna get us out the league. May people liked but is he gonna be able to provide goals for us the season after next potentially in the champ. Let’s just let NJ get on with the job. COYR

A club from Hungary could also be a option. Ferencvaros. More like Fehervar

Who would you like too replace May?. Would rather we kept him and Dobson and added to them. There is a lot of average players in the squad that you could reduce the wages and not even affect the 11 and subs. But sorry answer to your question I honestly don't know guess you have to trust Jones, I am sure there will be good players coming to the club as selling May is going to put fans on edge.

You can sell a 20+ goals-a-season scorer at the age of 32 if you replace him with two players who each score 15+ goals a season. Let’s wait and see before we panic. May is good, but let’s be honest, he’s not on the level of Mendonca or Kermy to warrant the bed wetting.

Good bit of business all round really. He done the business and is a top bloke, but if he don’t fit the plan for next season he moves on. Jones clearly don’t shy away from big decisions!

Same stature as Alfie but, younger, quicker and deadly inside the 18-yard box.
We'll see a tall, muscular striker or two arrive Im sure but this is the man we should be looking at.
By far and away the best striker outside of the Championship.

Like many others on this forum, I don't think we should sell May, and certainly not to a promotion rival in the same league.
However even more concerning is why are we potentially accepting bids, and letting May discuss personal terms, if that's what is happening before we have at least one or two good replacements actually in the door.
We might have decent replacements in mind, but until they are signed, sealed and delivered we definitely shouldn't be letting May go.
Hopefully the board are sensible enough to realise this and are actually close to a couple of decent strikers coming in. If May does leave and we, later in the window, miss out on key targets because they change their mind etc, and we end up with plan b players to replace, it could really end up backfiring.

Done with Charlton you can not sell your top goalscorer. Utter madness same old shit different owners . It’s not the owners this will be down to NJ to make this call .. May stay it’s to much of a massive risk by NJ and he can only lose from it

He rents the house for a start and he will be leaving us.

I get the impression Jones and May do not see eye to eye and if he has to be sold then sell him but it will put a massive downhill to this window seeing he’s our and the league’s top goalscorer.
Whoever’s replacement Reams is referring to better be a asset to us as what May was otherwise it will be the talking point for us.

Reams - you seem to know the bigger picture around this deal...is the replacement for May you've hinted at a marquee striker with a proven record or a kid with lots of potential?

Whoever we replace him with is absolutely irrelevant when your giving a promotion rival the most proven goal scorer at this level
