Going by reports from player of the year do, Miles Leaburn won't be back anytime soon, apparently October at the earliest. This is why we need proper fit strikers.. Miles & Chuks are unreliable and you don’t get promoted with injured strikers! |

It's very sad for Miles and I feel for the young man. It's also bad news for the club as I'm confident that the plan was to sell him in January, or this summer, for a sum that would have been enough to build a promotion winning team. It does look like we are never going to see a peak Miles Leaburn in a Charlton shirt. I suspect that these injuries are what people used to call 'growing pains' in the past. I remember Steven Gerrard having all sorts of injuries when he first came into the Liverpool side but all of a sudden it stopped and he was an ever-present for years. I fear that by the time Miles can play 40 games a season he'll have moved on. I hope I'm wrong. |

I wonder how many of those players being released played much part in their Championship winning season. I'd guess that they were on the fringe this season so are not expected to get a look-in, at all, next season. |

Always good to see DP back posting on this form, welcome back mate But where has O/R / WLA gone, another poster who tells it straight and adds value to this forum IMO…. The problem with O/R or whatever, is he can't help having a go at other posters, sort of bullying really. Having said that he has probably taken on ones who can look after themselves and got himself banned again, which is a regular occurrence. He writes well at times, then the red mist falls, bless him. I agree the fella has very strong beliefs and is very opinionated but I have had disagreements with him over footballing opinions and not had any sense of an aggressive tone back at me……….He does tend to spar with a couple on here but as you say unless I am mistaken they look like they can look after themselves and spar back at him….. I just think a forum needs all kinds of characters to give a balanced view, hence pleased to see the likes of Dick Plumb back and I personally would welcome the return of OR back on this forum……. |

JCH joining Mansfield would be a very strange move, talk was he was holding out for a move abroad this summer and a big signing on fee….I doubt very much that Mansfield would get anywhere near the wages that we were offering him in January……. |

The problem with O/R or whatever, is he can't help having a go at other posters, sort of bullying really. The forum is all about different opinions which everyone is entitled to. Some have stronger opinions than others which we can reply to or not. This mix is what makes the forum the best and without Nick the forum loses a vital ingredient that makes it tick. |

Quite a few other clubs in our league have already published their lists of players not being retained……NJ said on CATV that he was meeting with all his players on Wednesday ( tomorrow) for end of season review meetings……Whether we find out the outcome tomorrow we shall see….. |

So I can't imagine it will be long in announcing it officially. A number of them are essentially out of a job tomorrow, so there's no reason to delay it to me. Looking back on past seasons there are very few signings anywhere in May. You can talk to all out of contract players from 1st June (ie the last 30 days of their contract) but if the club has already officially 'released' them, you can talk to them earlier. That said, given that most released players will be taking a wage drop (or holding out for a certain wage), the players themselves will be in no rush to sign early. Also bear in mind that a lot of clubs we are speculatively being linked with players from (eg Luton, Barnsley, MK Dons, Leeds/Ipswich) still have 2-4 weeks of their seasons to go. Based on the general way transfers play out, I suspect we may sign 1-2 in the last two weeks of May but otherwise June 1st onwards. |

As for ST sales, I think quality additions to the spine of the side is the only way to boost sales.
