Brownie and Curbs speculating on next seasons business and whether Alfie coming off last few games means anything for next season - whether Nathan maybe wants something different next season. I think you have to be mad to sell a golden boot winner but I’m willing to back Nathan fully backed on what I’ve seen from him compared to Appleton with mostly the same squad. Nathan doesn't fancy him. He hasn't since he arrived. He benched him almost immediately when he got here, and then eventually started playing him, but subbed him in pretty much every game, sometimes when we were needing a goal. I don't know if he is worth much on the transfer market being 30, but having the golden boot might up his value a little, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him sold and the funds used to bring in more players. It's a risky strategy, and personally I would prefer us to do what Curbs did with Bent, which was basically build a squad around him and find players that could just keep feeding him. I'm sure Alfie would thrive under those conditions, but I'm not sure it's the Nathan Jones way. May is the one piece of the puzzle we actually have,a predator at this level.NJ will undoubtedly want genuine competition for him,but he's not going anywhere surely??? The task infront of NJ is mammoth as it is without losing a 15-20 goal a season man? |

Hope Jones is fully rested after that absolute sleeper of a season because his hard work starts now. Edmond’s Green, Ramsey, Small and May are about the only ones worth keeping!

NJ came out and explained the reasoning….. he said the three players hooked at half time were not contributing to the team….none of them including Alfie really could have any complaints……bar Small and Ramsay none of them could have any complaints about being hooked…..don’t see a conspiracy here just a manager kicking players up the arse when he feels they are not doing enough Personally I would have hooked Kanu because he was getting bullied by their centre backs and Alfie is always likely to get a goal out of nothing…… Not getting the Ness thing, out in the cold and then brought in in front of REG who is the better defender, I don’t think Ness is anywhere near good enough to be part of a promotion chasing side, same thing goes for Anderson and Kanu and all three need season long loans in the division below IMO |

I think gone are the days where we hear news of incoming players until right before signing for us……..NJ rarely discusses why current players are not in the squad so he is definitely not going to divulge who we are talking to……the main thing is they are of the right quality to improve us…to me it’s all about the quality |

Given this and the fact that Reams hinted a few days ago that NJ has got a sensible budget to play with, my assumption is that the three are a cut above above what we currently have |

I am really happy that I won’t see some of the current players again in a Charlton shirt. A Charlton player that has done well for another club is Jack Payne. I think League two is his level.

So we're essentially back to an old style manager calling players and agents he has managed before, and bringing them in on two to three year deals. This had better work out next season otherwise the owners and executive will have an expensive mess on their hands! No pressure but we need five quality players landing ASAP AND a cohesive plan for the whole squad Let's see where we are after five or ten games played. |

We could certainly do with signing a few quality 'head turners' early. Nathan is a selling point but a finishing position of 16th is certainly not, so he's got a bit of a battle on.
A few good signings early could help to shift the momentum and encourage others who can see what we are building.
