With Campbell signing guess Jones will use him to rotate the midfield. 100 percent.

Charlton Athletic have had an offer accepted to sign Stockport County striker Isaac Olaofe. The fee is believed to exceed £750k and the Addicts are keen to replace Alfie May who left for Birmingham. Olaofe’s agents have opened talks with the South London club with the striker keen to move back to his hometown. From a Twitter account that has few followers Surely this has to be a wind up…..Why would you sell your main striker who scored 1 in 2 last season……

He only signed a new deal a few months ago.

Nelson Abbey ..Plays for Reading My apologies, I did mean Nelson Abbey! As for Louie Barry, I wasn't aware of the injury so that's a shame, he's just the striker/winger we should be looking at. Ideal player to have centrally or wide right cutting inside. We tried it with Alfie at Carlisle but it didn't work. Stockport also have Isaac Olaofe up front. 11 goals in 18 and Lewisham born. He's another I mentioned to Andy but personally I think we'll have another crack at Trivante Stewart. I keep mentioning Caleb Taylor who we are very interested in. 20 year old CB who just wants to play football. Talented too. Another name on my list is Connor O'Riordan at Crewe. 6ft 4 and CB. Scored twice against Doncaster last Saturday. Only 20 and a will be on a few wanted lists up and down the country. What we have that they don't though is Charlie Kirk to offer in exchange. It makes perfect sense to me. I mentioned him to Scott last season as you can see by the above post. Not sure how accurate this rumour is though. That said he's only making the bench for them so far in this campaign.

He's a local boy and came through Millwall youth ranks.

Tony I think we need you at the training ground all week reporting back on who is being shown around…..👍😀 Unless we plan to loan out both Kanu and Campbell…..which I would very much doubt on the latter……. I can’t see us bringing in another forward in this window

Interesting signing. Looks very positive. Do we know much about him? Played regularly for Luton in the Championship, but it doesn’t seem to have worked out at Millwall where his last game was in December last year. Did he pick up an injury?
Seems to me we’ve done well to sign him. For what it’s worth, I don’t think Jones will either want or need to rotate Coventry. What we now seem to have is four number ‘8’s, Anderson, Berry, Campbell and Docherty, who I guess Jones will look to rotate, both within and between matches.
We now need to find that creativity and goal threat. Another striker would be nice, but I can’t see it though. Mind you, Miles Leaburn will be like a new signing. There’s no reason he won’t come back fitter and stronger and when it comes to replacing Alfie May it’s worth reflecting on some data.
Last season May scored 17 non penalty goals in League One in 38.5 ninety minutes equivalent. In the 2022-23 season, when just 18/19, Leaburn scored 12 non penalty goals in League One in 20.3 ninety minutes equivalent. If Leaburn can get anywhere near the energy and dynamism of Ahadme he’s going to make a big difference. It’s not implausible that Leaburn will out score May while making a much bigger all round contribution to the side.
Funny old game sometimes, but in a reversal of the norm our focus during the rest of this transfer window will likely be on the “outs” rather than any more “ins” with an eye elsewhere on possible moves for Gomez and Lookman. I imagine the next GFP Board meeting will be a much more cheerful affair.

Not a lover of kanu think he should go out on loan for a season. Then bring in a experience striker on loan from championship or Premiership.

Not to be negative, but I think the lack of creativity in the centre of the park is going to cost us in some games this season.
Hopefully that'll be off-set by how physical and robust we are in many games.

Any truth in the Stockport County striker rumour? Didn't he only recently sign a 3 year contract extension?

Hopefully that'll be off-set by how physical and robust we are in many games. Initially I agreed with your opinion. But having seen the first 3 matches I believe that in tier 3 the pace of play and pressure we will create will possibly be sufficient. This would not be the case in tier 2 and it goes without saying that I would have no objection if we did find extra creativity in the centre of the park.

I might be a bit greedy after the signings so far but would like to see Kanu loaned to L2 and Joe Taylor or Cornick on loan to us.

He is the diminuitive striker we need and a younger version of Alfie. He scores goals, ok not as many yet but they are similar goals to the one's Alfie scored and he gets into the same positions. Besides he likes playing with his socks down or at least halfway down the shin like Berry does along with Gassan and Campbell who signed today!

Reading up on the club statement regarding the signing of Allan Campbell, I notice Andy Scott says "We appreciate the fact that Luton have helped with this and facilitated it" - if that means helping out re: wages / loan fee, then surely we can do the same for Fraser, to get him off the books?

Heard this morning that Potts wants silly money.
Hoping his demands come down as time goes by.

Definitely. I'm not sure playing playing the likes of Northampton, Stevenage etc can compete with Real Madrid! I can see why he changed his mind. Massive shame for us, but looks like he's smashing it so far.
