Back to hoping there’s a couple of faces in the stand or on the pitch v Portsmouth we might be signing I guess!! Maybe Portsmouth will play someone we are thinking of so jones can take a look. Christ I’m getting desperate for a rumour!😂

I’d say we are pretty much set barring a couple of loans and maybe a keeper. I’m curious as to why people think we need another midfielder? I think there is plenty of quality between Coventry, Taylor, Berry, Docherty and potentially Anderson. If they ship Fraser out maybe space for one more? I can see Godden dropping a bit deeper anyway. Roll on Wigan away! I agree with this, and it's pretty obvious Nathan Jones does too. All this talk from forum members playing championship manager and banging on about no. 10 or CAM, it's clear to me that NJ intends to play a system that doesn't require one. There's plenty of quality in the middle of the park (although maybe not depth - I personally don't rate Anderson) so a loan or two will probably suffice. Personally, I feel the same about our defensive options. With A. Mitchell, L Jones, Gillepshey, REG, and Edwards & Ramsey able to fill in, I think one more on loan will probably do.

One day you might post something on here that isn't diesrespectful to other members. Championship Manager? Really? I learned my trade fella, it wasn't hard due to the household I was brought up in where the man of the house was a Professional footballer, coach and manager. Taught me all I know, don't need computer games to back that up. You don't rate Anderson yet many do and while we are on about the midfield nobody is doubting the players we have in there but most of us agree what's missing.

I like the reports of our interest in the striker Magee but can't help picturing Mr Magoo with a walking stick.

It’s called Football Manager now (for years now) I’ll have you know!
We could do with someone who can play the Trequartista role though.

It was a tongue in cheek comment aimed at not only forum members (plural), but many fans on the world wide web. It's the same with posters on X... "We need a number 10", "we're going nowhere without a goalscoring midfielder". My point is that it appears Nathan Jones doesn't see things that way, although with your background you obviously know better. Let me know your odds for England manager and I'll chuck down a score! Yes, I don't rate Anderson, and others do. The whole point of a forum, individuals expressing their own opinions. I didn't say I was right (I'll leave that to the pros).

Fare enough, I thought when I first read it, it was aimed at myself.
Apologies.

Small will stay one more season like chucks. You would hope so with Small….but how much preseason game time has he had compared to Edwards…..makes no sense at all that he is not starting today unless there are other things going on…..

To play this modern no.10 role and be effective you’ve got to have one hell of a footballing brain. I don’t see anyone like that who’d play in league one. Any success we’ve had in the past has mainly come with hard working industrious midfield pairings like Kinsella and Jones or Stephen’s and Hollands with a bit of creativity coming from out wide.

I would like to see Taylor get a run out. He looked a great player for Burton.
Sounds like we are heavily reliant on outgoings before incomings. Hope we don’t miss out on targets due to this for example Dixon Begovic and any other unknowns that are on the radar.

I would be very surprised if we let Taylor go to Stevenage,
Ness to Notts County has been on the cards for a few weeks.

Dixon signing was announced by Cawley a couple of weeks back. I can't be arsed reposting the rules (which are on the FA website and I linked to on here) again, but since he can't remotely qualify on standard points-based work permit, we need to use one of our ESC slots to go for a GBE approval, which means having to wait for a hearing to assess and report back to the FA. It's not a quick process (several weeks) but the fact he has now flown into the UK means it must be underway and fairly close to completion imo.
