I heard Ness is of.think fraser will go as well.asimmwe will be loaned out and don't think Edun will be there much longer. Think that's it for strikers probably sign hylton as coach/player as back up. Potts looked good yesterday and at training.also Bishop looks OK so thunk all three will sign .

No one has said we’ve offered £1.2m for anyone Actually BB isn't far off this time. We were willing to pay a very decent fee for Sinisalo but he chose Celtic. I'm hopeful we will spend the same amount on another target though while I imagine Bishop and Potts will join us and that might be it. I wouldn't expect more than that. We need to shift 3 sounds 5 or 6 out though. Yesterday's friendly and those before it have shown that the current size of our squad is too big. We have played two 11's and still had players missing out. I think we really do need another striker (Lankshear or McAtee on loan) a goalscoring midfielder, a left sided CB and a keeper. Fair enough. We will see when we sign someone. I’d be very surprised if we were looking to spend £1m on a goalkeeper personally, but I would love it if we do as that should mean a very good goalkeeper coming in! For now, we’d not seen any confirmation of significant bids for a GK.

We weren't aware of the bid that went in for the lad who has gone to Celtic but Exeter have confirmed we were very interested. Not everything gets made public before it happens to be honest mate.

Completely agree. If we map the current squad against Jones’ preferred 3-5-2 system, then it’s clear we’ve got players coming out of our ears. That’s not to say we don’t need to strengthen, but it means there’s a lot of work to be done to move players on and even more so if we strengthen. This is not just about money (though that matters), but also about squad cohesion and player motivation. We don’t want lots of senior players, who believe they’re more than capable at League One level, kicking their heels and feeling they’re being ignored. By my reckoning, we’ve got 3 goalkeepers, 3 right sided centre backs (4 if we include Ramsey), 2 centre backs (3 if we include Gillesphey), 3 left sided centre backs (if we include Potts and Edwards), 3 right wing backs, 1 left wing backs (2 if we include Edwards), 2 pivots, 6 no ‘8’s (if we include Bishop) and 6 forwards. It’s going to be an interesting few weeks.

Agreed it’s going to be interesting to see who leaves……We are very top heavy in the defensive area but it was interesting to see Ramsay doing so well yesterday in that RCB role so it means if we do have a few injuries he can slot into this role….and you could say the same for Edwards on the other side…..So you would assume Ness is leaving, Assime will go out on loan….the big one is what happens to Zach Mitchell but I can’t see us keeping all three of Gillesphey, REG and Zach so something will have to give here…. Midfield wise interesting to see Fraser wandering over to the bench yesterday in his kit and not getting a game which makes you think something may be going on there with his agent………. would imagine with Bishop likely to come in Edun will be not get any game time so I can see him leaving also……

It’s going to be an interesting few weeks. This is no, real, surprise. Methven has been very open about how much harder it is to move players out than it is to sign them and, to their credit, we have signed some players very early this summer. Moving players out when we pay good wages (and have signed players on much more than they are worth) is always going to be a challenge. I suspect that we have several players that we could move on but that we don’t want to pay off and/or release for free. As we get nearer to the end of the window we will, no doubt, reduce our demands as the clubs they are moving to will up their offers. In the meantime we are stuck with them and I agree that bringing in more players now could be a mistake but we don’t want to get a reputation for agreeing to pay players contracts up and letting them leave for nothing. I also think that, in some cases, we sign players that we don’t need because they become available and are better than what we have. Then we have to move someone out that we might have planned to keep.

I’m still watching the situation with Divin, it’s all gone quiet on him - Sunderland / Sheffield Wednesday have both signed strikers now who I thought he would go to - jones said some of the bigger signings take time. I’d love to get him over the line

I’d love to get him over the line Is Mubama a better prospect than Campbell who is a year older and has bulked up, perhaps as a result of him being told he would play narrower? Would prefer Kevin Denkey or Kaheim Dixon. Shame about rumours of no contract for Hylton, the type of player we need.

I saw Hylton play many years ago for Aldershot and he was a real handful…..unfortunately time catches up with us all, he didn’t score a goal in his last two years at Northampton, I think he would make a very useful coach on our staff…..but as for playing I really didn’t see it happening I think Anekes current fitness and availabilty will mean we will not bring in another forward as when Leaburn returns we will have 5 centre forwards in the first team squad and I just can’t see Kanu being loaned out Bishop has changed my opinion of him, I think if we do sign him he will add some very good support along with Terry Taylor to the first choice three of Coventry, Berry and Docherty I just think we are missing that goal scoring threat from the middle of the park and I am hoping that any money that was planned to be spent on the young keeper is spent on this area of the squad

I must say that Conor Coventry has not impressed me at all. No goal threat, loves a square pass.

This is going to be an interesting one mate as Taylor really impressed me yesterday with his pressing and passing, NJ doesn’t pick sides on any current status quo as he proved by dropping Coventry for the Wycombe game at the end of the season…. I thought at the start of this summers recruitment process that the only definite shoes in for Aug 10th from the team that finished the season would be Small and Ramsay and I still feel the same way now…… I do though think Coventry will come good on a consistent basis, you can see he has good technical ability and with the experience and ability of Berry and Docherty around him I think we will see Coventry put in more consistent performances……..I don’t think there will be too much goal threat playing in that CDM role but then we didn’t see much goal threat from Dobson when he played there…..

I must say that Conor Coventry has not impressed me at all. No goal threat, loves a square pass. When has Conor Coventry ever been a goal threat? He job is to free up the two 8s in front of him and to win any loose balls and to protect the back 3. He's definitely giving us more control in games and he can create from deep areas of the pitch but we have not seen that enough from him yet. Getting the balances in midfielder is key but I have seen enough to believe that Jones will get that right with or without Conor Coventry.

Not his job to score … how many goals did Dobson score He played well in pre season breaking up play , yesterday a palace player done a job on him blocked him out the game in a league that most likey would have been a foul …. He first name on team sheet now

When was the last time Joe Gomez scored,😄. Mind you, the fact he's never scored probably cost him a Euro's appearance.

What’s the point on signing him. There’s better free agents out there in that position. Really can’t work it such a underwhelming signing. Record over the last few seasons is awful.

Think there was a thing a few years ago where a player (possibly Wayne Rooney) was signed as a player coach and it meant that his wages didn't count towards the playing budget.

So like I said he will come in officially as a coach but be registered as a player as and when needed. That's the loophole we have looked at.

The source of the original post which was put on here yesterday was pretty good……and this is a rumours page after all………
