Luke McCowan or Theo Blair I guess. If indeed Scotland is correct Scotland is quite far to come... Wales seems more likely. Suggestions Jones is looking North so I’d go with Scotland. Much higher standard of players than the Welsh prem. we shall see

As aaronaldo pointed out Cardiff is lot closer than Edinburgh……🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

The striker I mentioned last night is said to be pretty close to signing. Won't name him but despite not being at an English club, he won't have far to come. Luke McCowan or Theo Blair I guess. If indeed Scotland is correct I originally thought of Blair but I think he signed a new long term deal last summer so I discarded him as we will probably look at the best available frees first

Kion Etete, plays 50% of his games in Wales……..🤣🤣 Pretty sure we were after him last season, was a perfect foil for Alfie at Cheltenham…..maybe also an Alfie recommendation Just my guess……Big unit up top which I think NJ wants, ticks all the boxes for me……👍 Dubai Addick on the other site saying we are very close to signing a forward, my money is on him…. Averages less than 5 goals a season? I'm not getting excited by this if it is him. Much easier to get in a player on a free with potential rather than a 15-20 goal striker which every other club is after and will pay top dollar for…….We lacked a bit of Physical presence up top at the end of the season with Alfie and Kanu and I hated seeing Kanu getting bullied by the Wycombe centre backs in the last game…..I want my forward line big, mobile and physical personally….. I would also like us to try and get Stephen Hymphries in from Wigan who would add goals and more physicality to our forward line……

Hoping that the first signing is a key one, such as a striker. It becomes much easier to attract/convince others if you make your ambitions clear.

I'd be inclined to discount anyone from Scotland as they still have two weeks of the season left. I'd be inclined to only look at out of contract players (whilst we will pay some fees, I think freebies are more likely this early in the window). So someone who plays in Wales and is out of contract in the summer. I'm veering towards Jamal Lowe who has just spent the season at Swansea on loan from Bournemouth (so "won't have far to come"). He's out of contract, 6ft0 with 9 goals and 3 assists in 24 starts and 11 sub appearances in the Championship. Also I found this, which suggests that NJ is best mates with Swansea's sporting director (and also includes some Lowe speculation, albeit from January and about Swansea wanting him on a perm): www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/61798/paul-watson-told-that-jamal-lowe-is-a-wanted-manPlus I believe NJ lives near Bournemouth. Lots of circumstantial stuff here, but just adding Lowe's name to the frame. We would likely have to fight off Championship interest if it is him, but it would very much be an 'Ipswich Method' type signing and likely no different salary-wise to say JCH.

We've made mistakes with signing big names in previous seasons that haven't worked out, the obvious difference between Lowe and players like Watson, Arter & LuaLua is that Lowe still 29 and actively playing in the league above. If we did manage to land him I'd be very happy with that bit of business.

Looking at the stats his main position is listed as a centre forward, I always knew him as more of a right winger back in the day, but I haven't really kept up with watching him at his newer clubs. He always struck me as someone who can play as a 9 or 10 with the right setup.

I'd prefer Lowe to a 'lump' upfront personally.

Can it be Scotland? I thought they had three games left. Dickplumb along with a few others have guessed right. I wasn't prepared to name names last night but I'm much more comfortable now it's in the public domain. Decent fee involved as I understand. But won't be announced for a few weeks for the very reason you give, the SPL is still ongoing. Nathan Jones has a very good track record with players from North of the Border and I'm told others will follow.

A central defender is also in talks.
Possible lifeline for Scotty Fraser while others won't be so lucky.
Circulating a list of players available for loan too and it's longer than normal. We won't be commanding much of a fee for players NJ wants to offload due to them not being in his plans and that list is a lengthy one.

Quite like what I've seen of him. Good age and much better return than some of the others mentioned!

Does he really want to be in England though let alone SE7………His recent interviews state a preference to be living up north so this will be an interesting one🤔🤔🤔
