6ft 3 so a big unit……15 in 35 for Motherwell, Canadian international……..I has discarded Blair because he signed a two year contract last August and thought we would initially be going after frees……maybe an Ipswich style budget is in the making…… Why there money to spend … Many thanks for the insight 👍 |

Great bit of scouting? Bair is #3 in the SPL top scorer charts, has just won Motherwell's POTY award, is in the official SPL team of the season, and is being linked with everyone from Rangers to Wrexham to half the Championship.
It would be absolutely amazing if we get him, but I can't feel this is similar to January's Aaron Collins and JCH links (obvious names leaked to demonstrate our ambition, who we would ultimately come nowhere near signing).
I hope I'm wrong. Bair would be a bloody AMAZING signing!

I just meant considering the rumoured Godden link,I can't claim to have known about him prior to his name being flagged up on here. But given his exploits,as you say he will have no shortage of offers,but I'm liking our potential attempt to land a striker on the rise. |

Anyone over the age of 14 posting that stuff is likely either an incel or on a sex offenders register. What a horrible example they set. Hopefully footballers we're trying to sign (and their partners/friends) are wise enough to treat hideous forums like CL as the garbage they are and not allow such idiots to affect their decision-making. Can the club close down a toxic forum like CL? I have no idea, just asking. |

He will probably have championship admirers but Josh Knight. 26yr old Peterborough Centre back is a free agent come June 30th. Was very impressed with him in the two playoffs games recently and all season. Would be a great addition to our back line.

I've actually seen him play; when Morton knocked Motherwell out of the Scottish Cup. He's very quick and strong, but struggled against our physical centre halves. Definitely a player in there, but he got bullied out of the game by a 41 year old.

I’d be very surprised if we eventually land Bair, but what’s extraordinary is that it’s even credible a striker playing in the Premier League in Scotland, with a club that played in Europe last season, would sign for a club that’s about to play its fifth successive season in the third tier in England.
It’s a major indicator of the huge financial gap that’s opened up between the two countries. Based on the latest accounts for the two clubs, our revenues are about 50% above theirs (despite a circa £1.2m windfall for Motherwell from their participation in the Europa Conference League) and our total wage bill is about twice as high.
Scottish football is run much more sustainably than English football too. Motherwell required no owner funding in the 2022-23 season. That compares with the £8.9m SE7 had already committed by the time our accounts were filed a few weeks ago.
It makes sense for any decent footballer plying his trade in Scotland, and looking to maximise his earnings, to head south where, in relative terms, money is thrown around like confetti. Money does drive standards though and while a move south might mean Bair could no longer dream of playing in Europe or in a domestic cup final, he might nevertheless find the football tougher and more competitive.
Anyway, fingers crossed we get to see him at the Valley.

The SPL is still in progress, he will be concentrating on his football and he is under contract to MFC so
nothing will happen until the season is over.
