3 and a half year deal is fantastic for a marquee signing. Hopefully two or three of these begins a proper look-forward approach where you’re not having complete rebuilds every summer!

Great signing, a real statement of content. Yeah agreed. I really hope this is seen as such in the football community. Might give other players the nudge they need to consider us as a team on the up, willing to spend / invest in a promotion push. Hope he hits the ground running and shows what he can do. Hopefully he can be categorised as 'Elite'  |

We are 13th in the table and out of all the Cups to teams below us in the pyramid. Rodwell & Scott have got absolutely fuck all to be proud of. A step in the right direction though. We need to get in another 3 quality players by the close of this window which will hopefully give us depth and not a subs bench of 17 year olds. I assume that the Coventry deal will include a release clause for the player and a sell on clause for the club particularly as he has dropped down to tier 3. Await further news of other potential signings. |

This does look to be a good signing, but we need to see the rest of the puzzle in place before we get carried away with the arrival of this one piece. Perhaps we should reserve judgement on your third sentence though? If you were to add the word “yet”, then most people would probably agree. |

Well done to the investors for financing it 👏 it’s also nice to be back signing players on permanent, long term contracts like normal & stable clubs do. If Gillesphy joins today to replace the cumbersome Hector, that’s another positive sign. |

Has it finally sunk in that you need good experienced pros to get out of this poxy league ? 100% … we have been crying out for a Darren Pratley type player who would have been ideal either in front of the CBs or even in place of one of them. |

On paper a welcome and a very good signing.
Personally I think that Dobson needs to stay and be the experienced anchor in midfield. Let's not forget that Coventry has a little over 50 league games under his belt, whereas Dobson has over 250 and is our POTY. There would be an awful lot of pressure on Coventry if Dobson were to go, without us adding more experience to our midfield.

They've set themselves the challenge of recruiting or developing eight elite (marquee) players by the start of next season. There's the small matters of team attitude, tactics and fitness to address and that's on Dr Mike & Appleton. Time will tell how many signings work out and whether they convert to improved XG and improved results. Unclear why anybody would invest heavily in any member of SMT, past or present? They either move the club forwards or backwards. CAFC (BVI) secured promotion in 2012 and sold us to Staprix early 2014 in the midst of a relegation scrap. Duchatelet and Meire ensured survival, at first. Both ESI and Sandgaard took us backwards for four years. |
