Hope Alfie is on form the rest of the season! My genuine belief is we'll be in League Two next season.

So where are the other two expected players….😡
Absolute bollocks of a transfer deadline, what Jones is going to make of Scott’s unbalanced squad is anyone’s business😳

So who will be our number 10? Are we waiting for Camara to come back?

Pathetic window. Let's just hope we've got enough. For those of you who are confident that we won't go down I'm sure you will sleep well. For me and many others this window is yet another opportunity lost and we won't sleep so well

Very disappointing. Absolutely no creativity left in the team and a striker injury away from a complete disaster. On the brightside we have 4 who can play right back and still have 7 who can play defensive midfield.

I'm sorry but the leak of jones in advance talks was to mask a shit ending to the window. We needed a no10, striker and LWB. Why didnt they just push boat out to avoid relegation.
They were willing to pay 1.2m for collins and JCH. Aimed too high and had no plan b. Instead we got a 100k RB when we have 3 players who can play RB and we didn't sign a LB when we only have 1 left footed LB. Make it make sense, they have got to be a bunch of retards.
They have gambled and took the cheap option that I fear they will come to regret. Say either edun or may get injured we are fucked. Anyone saying we have aneke and camara coming back I guarantee one of them will get injured again before end of season.

Worst bit of the window is we don't seem to have moved on Dobson.
Given that he's reportedly signed a lucrative deal to join a club in Hungary at the end of the season, why would he make any sort of effort for us (whilst simply running down his contract) for the rest of this season?

My point is we could maybe have made a bit of money from him (the Hungarians had reportedly offered to take him now for a small fee) instead of letting him go on a free in a few months and having his wage against our SCMP Bill in the meantime. But I dunno... maybe the Hungary stuff is all smoke and mirrors and he'll re-sign for us. Stranger things have happened.

Maybe he has that offer on the table but likewise might want to see what happens for the remainder of the season. Maybe he hasn’t been impressed wit the set up so far but with a better manager and some better decisions from top to bottom he might ask to reconsider / stay

Yep Clarky you can’t help but admire the recruitment strategy of having 4 right backs to call on and 7 defensive midfielders…… with 2 fit senior strikers Jones is going to have a bag of fun sorting out this little shambles

Worst bit of the window is we don't seem to have moved on Dobson. Given that he's reportedly signed a lucrative deal to join a club in Hungary at the end of the season, why would he make any sort of effort for us (whilst simply running down his contract) for the rest of this season? Interesting interpretation. I think you could argue it’s one of the best bits of the window. The club (that’s Scott and perhaps Appleton when he was Head Coach) appear not to rate Dobson very highly. In their terminology he’s not an elite player and they probably believe they’ve signed a much better pivot in Conor Coventry. It follows that Dobson might not be a certain starter next season and is probably seen as not good enough for the Championship, where we could be playing in the 25-26 season. The club offered him a contract that fits with this profile. It’s not that they didn’t want him. Simply that they didn’t want to pay him more than they think he’s worth and risk having a player on the wage bill who becomes surplus to requirements. It’s important to understand here that players can only be offloaded if someone else will meet their existing contract terms, or better. If not, they become a liability and limit the potential to spend money elsewhere. Dobson objected to the contract offered, as he is perfectly entitled to, and a number of fans howled with derision. The club were being unfair to the player, tight fisted and didn’t understand his qualities etc. In any event, it was argued, we need him this season in our fight against relegation and we’re going to lose our best player because someone else will offer him what he’s worth. Guess what though? Not a single rumour of any interest in him. If the club’s assessment of him is so wrong why haven’t there been multiple offers for him from other clubs at the top end of League One or the lower end of the Championship? Perhaps the offer made to him wasn’t low balled after all? The good news is that Dobson will be available for selection between now and the end of the season. I’ve no doubt that he’ll remain one hundred percent committed to the cause and desperate to show Nathan Jones (assuming his appointment is confirmed) what he’s capable of. We then go again in the summer. The club has the option to keep its offer on the table, withdraw it or improve it. Meanwhile, we’ll see if a more attractive offer is available elsewhere. From the club’s perspective it’s a win-win and while people may not like it, it’s a good bit of business. They appear to have judged the situation about right.

What the fans want and total common sense are two diffrrent things. If Nathan Jones for example wants assurances that there will be a healthy budget available to him over the summer the board are not going to spend 2m now are they. He or whoever comes in needs to assess what he has first. Only by doing that will he know what areas of the pitch need improving. We can all amswer that for him because we know having watched the side for six months but he hasn't so we have to trust him. Best scenario is we stay up and a new manager has all summer to bring in what he wants. Don't forget he'll have his own contacts too and 2m+ will go further over three summer months than it will during the final days of a January window.

I'm probably in the minority, but yesterday's lack of activity in the market really didn't bother me much. Having said that, we need to stay up first, but I personally believe Jones will get enough of a tune out of the current crop to do that. I guess if we'd been able to add the likes of Collins it would have been great for them to effectively have a pre season starting now, but it was always going to be difficult to attract players of that ilk whilst in the position we are. The summer COULD be a very different story! It would be a lot easier to "sell" the club and it's vision with a clean slate, especially with Jones at the wheel! Let's just get the manager confirmed, that'll give everybody including staff and fans a much needed lift.

Sorry Reams but my real concern is the staying up bit. We haven’t won a game in 3 months, have a back 5 that concedes 2-3 goals per game and the team was desperately in need of a quality injection especially in the middle of the back three where we have a huge weak underbelly Jones will have a challenge turning around a losing mentality just as MK Dons did last season and TBF they weren’t a bad side. For me it’s all about the here and now and not what’s in store for the summer and I really fear for us for the remainder of the season Hoping I am wrong and I will be the first to put my hands up and admit it if we start to win games on a consistent basis

The mentality at the club is rotten, and I am afraid that part of that is attributable to a complacent hardcore in our supporter base (coincidentally, the ones still going) who are more interested in chip portions, indulging in daily humblebrag on CL (what a classic this week …”I’ve interviewed and met every Charlton manager since xxxx”), museums, fanzines & peripheral nonsense like being seen to be important, than pressuring the club to increase playing standards. Well done reamsofverse for making ITTv the forum that fans went to for the breaking news in recent months. It has so gloriously offended a handful elsewhere , precisely because they revelled in that status when their inept chum “Muzza” was busy wrecking the club. We don’t hear much about those so called friendships and links today 🤔🤔 “We don’t want to be like Millwall” is a familiar refrain from this lot, but it’s a fact that Millwall’s fanbase would have drummed our last few charlatans out in short order. I know quite a few Millwall fans and a couple of West Ham, and they are all incredulous at how tolerant our dwindling fanbase is of the crap we have suffered in recently years. Anorak-sia Nervosa 🙄 Appointing Jones is a massive positive, and I am really pleased that we finally have investors who not just talking the talk but walking the walk. It’s not just the money - seeing these guys taking a hands on interest in managerial recruitment this week is a massive plus point, IMO. The whole culture at the club now needs to change.
