Just hasn't worked out for Gilbey here .On his day , like Ipswich at home last season , he looks class . Unfortunately , he has been a major disappointment in most of the games he's been involved with .Think he'll end up at Orient .

Think he's been dealt a rough hand, I know we've brought in some real talent but I do believe he has a part to play. He's tidy on the ball and has some good driving runs. Individual effort doesn't seem to be our bag though, all about bringing your team mates onto the ball. Totally agree, almost feels like we are pushing the lad out of the door when there should be others in front of him.

Gilbey’s stats in the last two years with us speak for themselves. Absolutely dire. Look at the clubs who are in for him - says it all. Can't deny that he's been underwhelming, but until this season I'd have said the same about Morgan. I would like to see how Gilbey does under Garnerball, but it looks like we'll never find out. Ultimately if moving him on means that we land ourselves a new striker or a centre back, I think it's the right decision.

I trust Garner. If he doesn’t fancy him then fair enough

Totally agree, almost feels like we are pushing the lad out of the door when there should be others in front of him. It appears harsh but we should recall that there's a new manager in situ for just a few months who has taken training, signed a few, reviewed all last season videos & stats. And then made decisions about who makes the cut. Whilst Gilbey and JFC not required, Garner has made Dobson and Morgan two of the first names on the team sheet. The addition of Rak-Sakyi the other night has shown us all how Garner is setting us up. Which in turn places doubts against CBT and Jaiyesimi! Along with moving a couple on, it appears we have some of our first XI out of contract next summer. Best to see how we do on Saturday but of the 15/16 most utilised players, around half were here last season. To be precise we have a new keeper, O'Connell and new full backs as well as Kirk fully assimilated AND the introduction of Leaburn and Rak-Sakyi, along with Payne and McGrandles in midfield (from the bench). Whilst all of our full backs left last May to be replaced by Clare, Sessegnon and Clayden (plus the injured Egbo), the rest of the side is a blend between old and new.

It’s not harsh when the player concerned scored 2 goals & contributed 3 assists last season. Gilbey is a coaster. One of the things I like about Ben Garner is he appears willing to put the famous Charlton old pals act behind him. Remember when Jackson used to refer to him in interviews as “Gilbs”.
Now Gilbs can go and ply his trade at Orient.
JFC , Aneke & Jaiyesemi next please …

He’s on the last year of contract isn’t he? Unless we have an extension clause? It just sounds like they didn’t want to pay a fee? It’s really a perm (if they want him)

I personally think there’s a player there and given the chance under BG he’ll show that

Don't get the obsession with Stockton myself. If we are looking for a Stockton type as competition for Stockley then Tyreece Simpson for me. Already proven at league 2 level, but still young with loads of potential.

The obsession with Stockton came from the incident in the away game where he physically pushed back and bossed Gunter who gave away a pen. But he must be a late developer given his age and I can’t see the gaffer being interested.
Moving on to Gilbey he flatters to deceive. To my mind he is scruffy in possession and gives the ball away needlessly to often. Out of possession he can disappear and not track his opponent.
As already stated the lack of interest from other clubs is a giveaway.

I reckon we'll sign a young striker on loan on deadline day. Maybe Tom Cannon. Just a hunch.

I cannot understand why we let Elewere go out on loan, given that we are now using apparently limited resources on a new centre half.
From what I’ve seen so far this season, Elewere is just as good as our other three centre halves, and in some ways better.
More muddled thinking.

Him going on loan is not a punishment for him or a problem for us (we have others) it’s his development. See it as a positive

If he was back with us he’d still be 4th choice. Better than he goes on loan imo. He’s still quite error prone from what I’ve seen of u21/23’s.

Probably best to watch another couple of games in case Plymouth was a one off, but why another striker?! We now play 4-3-3 every game and we have seven players for the front three, albeit that includes Aneke. Fact is that Stockley is no. 1 choice for central striker role right now whilst Leaburn is getting roughly 20 minutes every game. Can see that might increase over time, and one day he starts due to injury, suspension or loss of form.
