It’s been the cheapest #cafc transfer window that I can recall in at least 40 years.
Even in our exile at Selhurst, with “crap owners” and 5,000 hardy fans, we managed to break our transfer record three times. What we wouldn’t give for Andy Jones, Colin Pates and Joe McLaughlin now.
Some, with shrivelled ambitions, will claim that spending money on players doesn’t tell the whole story, but I always think that a club’s transfer budget is the equivalent of its current stock price on the footballing FTSE.

I don't believe you always have to spend big on players to get out of a division if you buy the right players. However if you come out with stupid statements like gonna smash the league you have to back this up with some quality.
I certainly agree with not signing a striker just for the sake of it from the free market. But we left it far to late which proves owner was happy with what we had even though the manager probably wasn't.

It made me grin that they are starting work on the January transfer window now. I am just hoping that young players like Daniel Kanu and Tyreece Campbell can step up to the first team squad. But if we are anywhere near a play off position come January it is imperative that we buy a striker.

They are starting now (just llike they started on the summer window on 1st Feb) but you can be sure that we will be scrambling around on 31st Jan trying to strengthen the squad to keep us away from the relegation zone! |

The magic word is BUY, because in January there will be no quality freebies available and the word buy doesn't seem currently to appear in Sandgaards vocabulary. The squad is so thin it needs help from Oxfam, a couple more long term injuries and it's a relegation battle.

As in 10 yellows in his last 85 games and one red in his entire career? What a strange statement? 65 goals in his last 92 appearances. Apologies, getting him mixed up with McKirdy. |

Looks like he played very little for Sheffield Wednesday in 2020/21, managing one assist and no goals before falling out of favour. Then didn't play at all for Preston last season due to injury.
Doesn't look like a worthwhile signing.

I am aware that these things do happen and he has only moved to their development squad, but the fact we released him as not good enough for ours does leave questions.

Not because I think we can get promoted, but bringing players in January will give them a chance to bed in for next season (sad I'm thinking of next season already, but this ones fucked). Worked with BWP and I'm sure we attracted better players the following season knowing we had someone who could score goals.
