That would be an interesting midfield up there with Charlie and Albie in tandem…..but who would then put the tackles in and the tracking back of opposition runners 😂😂 I am sure Lavelle, should love a move back up north. Any chance of 3 for 2?

I doubt very much if Hector is staying and Lavelle is strictly league two level and will probably end up back at Morecambe We need far better than Lavelle to be challenging for promotion, why do you think Holden binned him off on loan to Burton?

Looked a good signing, but just didn't work out for all sorts of factors. As you say,no hard feelings, let's free the wages up and go again.

I know the circumstances of his arrival were tough on him and, frankly, the club should have pulled out of the purchase, and he should have stayed closer to home. However, last season, long after his father passed away, he played like he didn't care and was dropped from the matchday squad because the manager claimed that he wasn't giving his all in training and/or matches. The wages that this young man earns, and the lifestyle that it affords him, when compared to the average fan, means that anything less than 100% effort is unacceptable. Maybe he doesn't fit our style, or one of the other football clichés used to 'excuse' lack of professionalism, but when he goes the club are likely to have spent a small fortune on him (transfer fees and wages), and I don't think he has given anywhere near his best for the club. No doubt his reward will be a longer contract on more money and something tells me that he will show the same respect to Charlton that Alex Gilby has. I, personally, find that unacceptable!

I agree with you post KHA, I said at the time, why the hell the plug wasn't pulled at the time, God only knows. He was never going to settle after that, and moving so far from the north, where girlfriend also has dog grooming business?.. Never settled, never looked like he wanted to. Spent most games, watching lazily and ruffling his hair!.

Totally agree, I thought at the time he would be a good signing but it all went wrong, he should have pulled out of the deal on personal grounds. Instead he initially let himself down, but then he let the club and fans down with his attitude. I felt sorry for him at first but he's used up any good will towards him.

Instead he initially let himself down, but then he let the club and fans down with his attitude. I felt sorry for him at first but he's used up any good will towards him. I suspect that Crewe were keen to get the transfer fee for him and, in my view, didn't do him any favours. The club should have recognised that he should have stayed for another year but it was after a whole season of empty stadiums and all clubs in the EFL were desperate for money. Kirk would have been inline for a substantial pay rise so he might have been easy to convince to move. It's also possible, of course, that the player was driving the move for more money and/or an opportunity to develop his career. Either way the move has been a mistake and Charlton and Kirk have lost out. Crewe, on the other hand, are probably patting themselves on the back - not a good look, in my view. It looks, to me, like Charlie Kirk is the type of player that needs to be at a small club where he is a big fish without having to bust a gut. That doesn't say a lot for the man, but I have worked with plenty of people, over the years, that never seem to push themselves but they are able to outperform less competent colleagues that are giving 100% every day.

What do we all think about Charlie staying with us this season.
It's been well documented that he misses his Northern roots but I just wondered if he feels more settled in having Dean as his gaffer given the fact that he is from that part of the world himself.
If the gaffer can put a comforting arm around him and convince him that Charlton is the place to be I would love Kirky to stay because I think on his day he is an outstanding player at this level.

Sorry but it’s a no from me, built a reputation upon a partnership with Pickering at Crewe who is a class left back Not sure how he would fit into Holdens plans and struggled to get a regular game on loan at a struggling league one side…. He will find his way again…. but not with us IMO

I’d keep him around if he fits the system Dean wants to play. I was surprised when we loaned him off to Burton, I thought he was decent under Garner. He’s not hit the level he’s capable of for us, hopefully this year is his year.

IF he's already checked out and waiting on a move back up north then get rid. I trust DH to make the assessment and eventual call.

I don’t see how he’d fit into Deans preferred formation. Kirk needs an overlapping defender to give him an option and create space. I don’t see where he fits.
He’s got ability, but drifts in and out of games. Not sure if it’s attitude or what.

Having watched the 2 pre season friendlies , Charlie seems to lack the confidence to take players on, too often looks to pass back or play a square pass. He has to be more direct . I hope he stays , but something doesn't seem right.

There is a very good player there that needs a confidence boost. Keep him until the January window to see how he performs.

When he joined I felt he had something about him and was prepared to give him time to settle, taking into account the loss of his father at that time. I don't think our style of play has exactly suited him but I felt he has been lacking in commitment. However,I do have complete faith in Dean and if he feels he can get the best out of the lad, why not.
