I reckon pool will struggle next season Kirk is stuck between a rock and hard place he’s signed contract with us so if they don’t meet our value it’s tough luck isn’t it knuckle down there’s definitely a player in there at this level anyway could be important player for us in my humble opinion

I see this as nothing other than TS trying to put Kirk's name out there so we can sell him. I know the player is unsettled and wants to be up North but I can't think of any other club at the top of my head where the owner comments on players in the press. Why does he insists on getting so involved? He did the same with Stockley band like I say it can only be because he is pushing for a sale on both fronts. londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-athletic-owner-on-future-of-former-blackpool-loanee-charlie-kirk/

It's becoming clearer by the day that he is potless .

Or he’s trying to optimise the sale fee for players his manager feels doesn’t fit his system or players who want to move back north.

Right time to bring in Nicky Cadden.

What are people's expectations for Kirk this season?
I have a funny feeling that, should a bid come in for him, we'll take it and use the money to sign a replacement

In an ideal world we could sell him and get most of the 500k outlay back. We could replace him with Nicky Cadden on a free, I think he's a better player.
With half of the money received for Kirk, + Davison we could bring in McKirdy while also getting Payne on a free too.
We would then have brought in three players and still have half of the Kirk money for other needs and believe me there are plenty.

I just can't see Sandgaard spending any incoming transfer fees on players.

I agree, any serious bid would be considered, not just for CK but for any player I imagine.I personally would love him to stay of his own choosing and become a fixture in a side that play to his strengths,he was doing it in the championship,so he could do it for us. IF the various factors line up for us,I think CK could be key.

Every half decent player that goes will leave us weaker. The chances of us buying a player seem so remote at the moment. Sandgaard (who is maing all the decisions, obviously) has no concept of the value of players and expects them to all join for next to nothing. We just don't seem to want to pay the going rate for anyone. The end result of this is what we saw last season, and it looks like it may well be the same this time around too. I applaud the fact that we are signing players that can play the way we want the team to but I'm not sure we have anywhere enough players, and the quality of thouse we've signed, is not, necessarily, high enough.

Very pleased for Kirk. BG can see a very good player there, it’s taken it’s time to emerge which isn’t surprising after all he has been through. If he keeps progressing he will be a real asset to the team.

Saw him close to on Saturday and he has a nice first touch and seems to like playing with Clayden. He is one that plays with his head up looking for other players' movement. Glad we have kept him.

Yep Cants … he’s an inverted winger who is twice the player when he has a fast fullback bombing past him acting as a possible decoy 👍

We are clearly creating more chances per game as per the Sky Sports App stats. xG published a day after games tells us the expected goals for and against - and again this is better than last season. But perhaps not enough games yet to make a meaningful comparison? 🤔 There are other stats available too! As we improve, there will always be players who deliver that improvement, as well as those who are left behind. And some may need to go out on loan for six months to find themselves. We can understand those who desire promotion immediately. But a more realistic ambition might be to make the top six. Right now we need Kirk, Rak-Sakyi and the midfield to further improve decision making, movement and delivery. Perhaps Rak-Sakyi will appear in those lists later on? And we need the better players to sign extensions!

shame he has pace of a snail So did John Robertson but he was one of the first on Cloughies team sheet at Forest. I think this is why he links so well with Clayden, who does a lot of the running for him and gives him options down the line or to cut inside.

As ExeterAddick recently remarked, Sandgaard is probably reluctant to spend again having done his money on previous poor signings. Charlie Kirk is one of them. He’s worked under three different Charlton managers now , and shows no signs of improving. I watched him closely last night - poor body language & a limited work rate. One decent cross apart , in the first half, he contributed very little again. He’s become a major disappointment. Thoughts on Kirk ?

I thought in the first half Kirk was busting a gut to close the ball down, but his performances are inconsistent.
I'd keep him for now. Besides with Martin Sandgaard in recruitment we'd end up with someone shitter.

Key moment in the second half when he was clear of his marker and just needed to remain composed and roll it across the 6 yard box.sadly he whacked it much closer to the keeper and a two yards in front of our attackers.
He is a mood player and too often just doesn’t look like he wants to get his shorts dirty.

That would be an interesting midfield up there with Charlie and Albie in tandem…..but who would then put the tackles in and the tracking back of opposition runners 😂😂
