We've been trying to get shot on him on a free transfer for ages now, but his wage demands were too high for any club that might want him.
"Contract terminated by mutual consent" means (after haggling over the amount) we have paid off part of his remaining contract.
The sum hasn't been revealed but will presumably show up in a future set of accounts.
I think us giving him £250k is probably in the right ballpark as that's around 50% of what was left on his contract (18 months at a rumoured £6-7k a week).
So what you should be saying is "shame we couldn't give him away" as it has most likely cost us what we paid for Alfie May to get shot of him.
