Won't have an impact but I'm wondering what people think RD should do to stop another train wreck.
For the first time this season we should worry about relegation and the impact that might have on our club.
Incidentally there is no defence for the board or the January window but as for apportioning blame? Not sure we have the knowledge nor does it help the situation.

Sell the club to who? If someone was serious about investing into Charlton, the deal would already have been done.

I would ask somebody who sings the "sell the club" song to answer this question... the previous English owners didn't do a great job... they sold to a Belgian who is widely despised... so who does he sell to? Just selling up isn't the answer...getting him involved, if possible, is the answer...along with a proper Director of football - just my view

RD can only sell the club if there is a buyer, then for us fans, there is the quality of any buyer to be concerned about.
I would like to see more football nous on the Board, so it's a Director of Football for me.

I'm off to Poland tomorrow night, but I will be back for Tuesday's match, and I may just have a slice of news to share by then. And it's 100% kosher if the early signs are anything to go by.

As I've stated before, I feel that Charlton will not recover in the long term until Roland Duchatelet sells the Club. This is because I believe that the changes he has made to the way the senior footballing side of the Club is operates means that it is no longer fit for purpose in the environment of the EFL. So many poor results/performances, and our 18 month slide towards the bottom of the Football Leagues is clear evidence of this.
Appointing a good Director of Football sounds like a reasonable solution to our current troubles, but I believe it will not work. The simple reason is the same one which has held us back since RD established his methodology. Duchatelet does not trust football people in this country, and does not give them the backing or freedom to do their jobs properly.
Any Director of Football who is worth his salt would find himself having to resign before very long, because he would discover what is already apparent; That Duchatelet considers himself our Director of Football, even though he is so remote from the day-to-day vibe within the Valley and our training ground that he has no idea whatsoever of the tensions and problems which continually defeat our efforts to play good football.
Even though he appears to make every important decision as he sees fit regardless of whether his CEO or other senior staff are onboard, Roland Duchatelet's remoteness and lack of any inspirational or emotional input at all has most Charlton fans concluding that he just does not care. Issues in other branches of his extensive business empire seem to occupy all of his time.
It is very simple.
Charlton will not enjoy a sustained recovery of fortunes on the pitch until we have a manager who is allowed to do his job properly and who is better supported by the executive. A Director of Football who is also allowed to do his job would probably help. A competent and experienced CEO who is allowed to do his/her job would also be a massive benefit.
It is clear now that we are not going to have any of these things until the Club is under different ownership.
PS:
Some people may think the timing of this poll is not appropriate, because it is less than 24 hours after our 4th straight defeat and naturally fans will be in an emotional state about that.
I would counter that by saying that if Charlton were not suffering their poorest Division 3 season since 1945 the poll would not be necessary at all. But we are, so it is.

I was at the meeting last week Paul and came away feeling very positive especially having listened to RM. But since then we have lost another 3 games and we really are in Big trouble. Ideally sell the club -but as you say who to??? In answer to the question it would be to get a a recognised Director to fix things. But we have to deal in the short term andI fear KR has lost the dressing room - so for me reluctantly it has to be replace KR with JJ

Genuine answer, I obviously don't know and there is a faint possibility it may have been in admin. But that cannot detract from where HE has put us now.

Apologies zenga I know your question was not directed to me. But in March 2017 how can anybody say where Charlton Athletic would be if Roland Duchatelet had not bought it. Over three years have passed, there is an infinite number of variables to contemplate. It does seem to me unlikely that nobody else at all would have stepped forward to buy a Championship London Club. We would still exist, but our situation today (better or worse) would be impossible to know. All we can do is respond to the way things are - there seems little point speculating over how they might have been if this or that had happened differently back in the day. It is not the entire concept of Roland Duchatelet buying and owning Charlton Athletic in the first place that many fans have become so angry about. It is the needlessly terrible job he has made of it.

I simply do not accept that they are of no consequence to us so he should either show some passion or sell.

I doubt RD will sell at a loss, and as KR has said we have a good squad assembled on paper that are got fitting well in a system. Every loss hurts us all but nothing can be done to change what we have until the end of the season, only KR can use every tactic necessary to get a result to stop the slide and grind a result and let's hope he does...
From then, summer signings will tell us all more about ambition and if RD supports KR fully then I have no issue with him staying but agree a DOF would be an advantage depending if that's what KR wants...
So in my opinion "what should RD do next?"
Support a total rebuild in the summer with KR at the helm and go from there...

Evaluating alternative scenarios is in my opinion key for making a statement like ' RD is taking us to the lowest levels in our history'. Yes, strictly speaking that statement is correct but it implies that RD is responsible for that. While saying that Charlton was already in big trouble and on it's way to L1 before RD came is also correct. In that case the narrative changes from ' RD is destroying our club' to ' RD didn't manage to turn the tide'. Therefore I disagree with you saying that we can only respond to the way things are. If the chance was likely that CA would have been bankrupt w/o RD then don't you think that makes demands like 'gtfo of our club' and 'sell up' less justified? I completely agree that he knows little about football and doesn't understand cq. takes the fans their feelings into account. But maybe his approach is just what CA will save in the long run (i.e. stressing the importance of the academy, a good infrastructure and healthy finances in general). And perhaps (actually I think it's very likely) he could/should have done way better with the same efforts. But if it was up to me I'd take a couple of shit years in a lower league while knowing that my club will still exist in 10 or 20 years from now any time of the day over any scenario where my club might have simply disappeared.

You can evaluate as many 'alternative scenarios' as you wish, but you cannot change the past. As Lardiman says, all we can do is respond to the way things are.
And the situation is that under RD's ownership, we have been taken to the lowest levels in our history and, like or not, based on current form, we could go further.
That cannot be ignored. Something is rotten in Charlton and when you have an autocrat in control, change can only come from the top. He has proved, time and time again, that he will not change, therefore selling is the only option to safeguard the future of our, OUR, club.

Can you elaborate a bit on your 'he will not change' statement? Wasn't it a 'main' demand from the fans that: - CA needs an English coach? - CA needs to buy English players? As far as I can judge, both the RS and KR appointments were well received by the fans. So were the English signings over the summer, and to a lesser extend this winter. It didn't work out (so far), but what are the other big changes you expect from him?

I couldn't care less as long as the manager is allowed to develop the squad in the way he needs, and moves our club back to a higher division(s). You know full well what I mean ...he has not yet proved he will change. If KR is still with us in September and RD has invested in the squad then I will hold my hands up. However, thus far, RD has proved nothing in that direction.

Not been on here for awhile due to travelling around the world for work. I've spoken to a few current owners of high profile businesses in South East Asia and the UK about our CEO, none of them support CAFC, some don't even follow football, but having given facts about what has happened, including relegation's, change of managers, lengths of some player contracts, etc etc, there so far has been no support for her or the owner. In fact some are asking why the owner keeps on the incumbent. Perhaps selling is now his best option? And before anyone asks I'm not a member of CARD or anyone else, just a 60 year old supporter that talks and works with owners of large businesses.

However, thus far, RD has proved nothing in that direction. Honestly I don't know what you mean, else I wouldn't be asking these questions. I was under the impression that at least Slade got a certain amount of freedom to develop the squad within the reasons of a budget. What I'm thinking though is that you want RD to get rid of the budget, or at least be very flexible with it, and let the manager overspend as he sees fit; correct?
