Liverpool Echo says deal as good as done. 6 mil plus add ons. Says they have tracked for 3 years. Also player believes he can show enough in pre season to force his way into 1st team squad for this season.

Rodgers will give younger players a chance - Ibe, Sinclair, Rossiter, etc - but it's a huge ask for Gomez to be involved next season. I'd like to see him loaned back to us immediately for a year.

As a long term Valley Gold member, once again I am left feeling shafted by Duchatelet's willingness to sell the family silver. It has happened with Poyet, it will happen with Cousins, Pope and Gomez.... with no doubt others to follow. The only home grown youngster we can guarantee will be staying is Morgan Fox, for the simple reason that no one is mug enough to buy him.
On the same day that another worthless Network mug - Christophe LePoint- quietly slid out of the Exit like a schoolboy fart....please don't be naïve enough to think that Duchatelet will be investing any of the Gomez money in what CAFC badly needs - experienced, ruddy faced, red cheeked English footballers.
Is it a coincidence that the fans of Ujpest and Liege regard Duchatelet with the same affection that a cat views ringworm?
Some fans are being unbelievably slow for the penny to drop where this charlatan is concerned.
Lets see the bigger picture - shiny new seats, new turnstiles....even real meat in the pies.
But a team chock full of foreign non entities and cast offs next season.

Local gooners are united in their opinion that Southampton, as a replacement for Clybe, will land ex-Charlton full back Jenkinson's instead of him going to West Ham or Sunderland.
Throws a different light of where Gomez is going although his medical an Anfield was due today.
Also, Newcastle and Villa want Cousins, who only has one year left on his Charlton contract.

Cheers Paul, thought today was Friday, you lose days once you retire, what with golf and bowls on alternate days, mixed in with a few wet lunches.
Medically, I'm progressing well, new medication working wonders, once my cataracts are dealt with I'm hoping to be able to climb those stairs up to a seat in West Upper around Christmas time and re-instate my regular visits to The Valley.

I had both eyes done last year, far to young I know but it will be the best thing you ever did.

I may be in the minority on this, but i'm ok with Jorden going.

A bit of sense in that third sentence. We all know that there are still many Charlton fans - mainly people like Shooters Hill Guru on Charlton Life, who where asset stripping is concerned will continue to bend over just as long as Roland can continue to shove the broom handle up their arses. Thankfully there are also a significant number with a bit of # ambition # for the old club. Not so long ago we achieved 7 consecutive seasons in the Premier League on relatively meagre resources. It can be done, but won't so long as this guy is allowed to run us like a franchise of KFC. (That's Kentucky Fried Chicken, not another of Roland's 14 Clubs...). How on earth are we supposed to finish above the likes of Derby this season if we loan them our best young player? What sort of message does that send out. Don't forget that JBG said he would review his contract position with us this summer depending on the ambition RD shows. You would struggle to find that ambition with the Hubble Telescope at the moment.

I can see people's points on here, but I think the question everyone wants answering is what show of ambition he will show this season will it be experienced players with a bit of quality or will it be relative unknows who have no experience of english football and will be told " give him a few games to find his feet" don't get me wrong Vetokele hit the ground running but he was young and hungry when he joined, I'm just concerned we will end up with nobody's again, my problem is with roland my opinion on him swings like a pendulum and I think that stems from never really stating what his intentions with charlton are and I become increasingly frustrated when we're not referred to as charlton but more as part of the network.

Just been told that the deal is nearer £7m so the Sky Sports £3.5m story is total bollocks. As I told you yesterday Derby have already told Liverpool that they would be interested in a loan deal. twitter.com/J_Gomez97

Derby want him on loan!! Coming back to us on loan is not completely out of the question but what I am told is if he did it would affect one of the clauses but don't ask me which one or to what affect.

If Gomez does go to Derby, or any other Championship side, I hope we have inserted a clause that he can't play against us.

Won't happen mate as he will not be our player for us to make such a clause.

Curbs did just that when Scott Parker left. We played Chelsea at the Bridge, just a couple of weeks after the transfer and Parker was not allowed to play in that game.

That's different thought as there was no third party club involved. If a Liverpool player is loaned to Derby such a clause would only occur if those two teams met in the FA Cup for example though I doubt he would be allowed to play in that anyway because they would not want him cup tied. Any business between Liverpool and Derby has nothing to do with us.

Absolutely comical if he rocks up at another Championship club next season, especially if the eventual replacements we sign are inferior to him. Newcastle signed Darlow and Lascelles last season, then loaned them immediately to Forest - ditto Alli and Spurs/MK Dons and Zaha with United/Palace. I don't see why we can't have a similar arrangement, even if it does mean we receive slightly less for him

Read on CL that the CAFC Academy staff were saying their goodbyes and wishing him the best.

If you read that on CL then it must be true, after all it's the forum that's never wrong despite those who frequent it having a collective lack of football knowledge outside of their own club.
Posting excitedly about Fran Sol the former Real Madrid now Villareal striker interesting Charlton FFS!!! He's shite, totally and utter shite!!
