Danny what teamdo you support Well, I was at Portsmouth v Charlton last Saturday unlike most of the posters on this thread. And I wasn't singing "Play up Pompey" either. My views on Douche's signings are based on actually going to the pre season friendlies. A few are in for a rude awakening at Brentford. So you think that over half of our squad are crap you must be on your school holidays with time to kill

My guess (and I assume a number of others) would be that Royston is back under another new name. It also doubles as yet another pointless dig at the guys over on CL, along the same lines as "Bartram's Boot" and "Henry's missus". Really wish some people on here could get over their gripes with individual posters on CL because, IMO, it really drags this forum down.

So you think that over half of our squad are crap you must be on your school holidays with time to kill That is a daft response Vince. Have you been to the PSFs like I have, and if so, what do you think of the new players ? Danny I don't like it when anyone has a pop at our players let alone half the team. I have been to Welling and see the team o TV in Belguim. I never judge the team or individual players on PSF Brentfors on Saturday will give us a chance to see what the new signings are all about and yes I am going. Please don't come on here slagging off players before the season has started

Unfortunately this thread was hijacked by Royston (Nick Gray) whose details have no been past over to Proboards.
As a result some of the threads have been deleted so it won't make sense in parts.
As I have said on another thread if anybody knows where I can find this guy please PM me, it's about time we had a little chat.

Getting back to Delort, it's dragging on a bit isn't it and I am starting to believe that a certain game of football in Greece on Wednesday night might have a part to play in it. If you remember I alerted you all to Delort's existence and Standard's interest back on July 1st, a month ago and well before anybody else had even heard of him. intothevalley.proboards.com/thread/16225/players-leaving-droves-moment-delortNow what I am getting at here is maybe RD is about to buy him or has even already done so but won't announce who for until he learns if Standard Liege are going to qualify for the final round of the Champions League qualifiers. To do this they have to either win or return from Athens on Wednesday night with a scoring draw which is a big ask against Panathaniakos in their own back yard. The first ended 0-0 in Belgium. Maybe if they get through and find themselves one tie away from the Group stages, Delort will be unveiled as a Standard Liege player which could possibly mean that our new striker might be Tony Watt on loan from Liege. If they go out he is then left with a choice of where Delort might be served better....Standard in a bid to help them win the Belgian title, or Charlton where he could help us gain promotion to the Premier League? In other words it won't be us buying Delort it will be the network and the club he plays for within it is still to be revealed and until it is maybe RD is reluctant to go public with which one?

Interesting theory Reams, but it doesn't sound like the player is short of offers and surely he'd have a strong preference over where he ends up?
We'll obviously never be able to give him Champions League, but if his ambition is to play in the Prem one day, he's best off joining us.

Reams you may well be right, I think a lot of players would like to join RD's network with the option of playing at SL or CAFC. Katrina mentioned this at the Q and A session with RD on Sunday.

I'm still hearing that this deal is practically dead. Tours are not satisfied with our deal and Charlton are not budging. I think we'll move on.

Thing is Tours have a player on their hands who no longer wants to play for them. Also if Tours were not satisfied with our offer they would give the green light to another club yet so far there isn't one that has come forward with a better bid.
I think we are still in the driving seat, they have lost their top scorer and want a replacement which they won't be able to buy on Fresh air but in saying that they did bang four past Cretail on the opening day of the season last Friday night so there are still goals in them..
Presumably he is now back in France and with the club who pay his wages but come Friday I think he will be a Charlton player.

I hope you are right but not unless there is a very very big turnaround in Tours asking price. Tithe two clubs are poles apart in the assessment of how much the player is worth. It might be a game of who blinks first but I believe that there are other clubs involved.

He's being a bit of a wind-up merchant, retweeting tweets from both CAFC and Leeds fans today, asking him to sign.

I'm not so sure it's totally down to the fee to be honest, we have made a good offer but they want more however both know that we are closer to his value than what Tours have priced him at so they may as well reduce it now and get it done.
Tours think that because of the list of clubs involved which has been conveniently exaggerated by them they can start a bidding war but it's fallen flat on it's face. They still think they hold all the cards though because of course he is still their player but the risk they run is being left with a player who wants away when the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Delort won't fancy another season in lique 2 believe me and if he then goes on to have a season affected by transfer talk and the goals dry up his value will drop substantially come January so Tours are gambling a bit by holding out for a deal to go through on their terms.
In any case I think it's more to do with installments and sell on clauses on the player, rather than the overall fee.

Translation says this: The Andy Delort future should be sealed by Wednesday. Closely followed by the RC Lens, the top scorer in Ligue 2 2013-2014 goes across the Channel. It is understood Charlton boarder English 2nd Division, for a 5-year contract. The London club Tours FC and were close to an agreement on Tuesday evening on the basis of a transaction of € 3 million and bonuses

I'm started to get very excited for this season, we've got two strikes we've speant around £2 million on each! From what I've seen on YouTube Delort looks like a clever player who makes powerful and direct runs past defenders.
He reminds me a bit of Darren Bent, Let's hope he has same impact.

The key here is he is direct. How often do you see a Charlton striker break through and then check back. Some of it is strength, some pace and some confidence. Delort appears to have all 3

So it would appear that I was spot on about the initial fee and all that had to be thrashed out was the add on's, how much they were and how they would be paid.
Not bad for somebody who has been accused on CL of not having a scooby!!and knowing no more than the rest of us!!
Ooh it's great having people in all the right places!!
It makes me laugh that prior to signing him I knew nothing, then when it looks like we are and exactly how I said we would there is no reference to me at all!! All I am reading on there now is people questioning his quality!!
It amazes me that we have so many football experts who up until a week ago had never heard the name Andy Delort before in their lives, you can't help but laugh at them especially when it was the same people who were going berserk when we sold Yann who came from the French second Division himself two years earlier?
Weird people who will never understand the game enough to talk about it the way they do, which is why there is such a huge difference between the two forums in terms of in depth analysis, wouldn't you agree?
Lique 2 has some poor sides in it, very poor, but there are 5 or 6 sides who would cause a few Championship sides problems. Look at Guingamp, they came up a year ago and won the French cup last season and as a result were in China last weekend playing PSG in the French Super Cup in front of 40,000 people.
Delort is 22, he had to start somewhere and it was at Tours who averaged 6,181 for home games last season, 25,000 less than the best supported club in the division Lens who won promotion. Delort could have gone there this summer but has chosen us so fans should support him and not question him.
Although not of the same quality obviously he reminds me of David Villa, same stature, and knows where the goal is, he gets the ball to feet and shoots without even having to look up half the time.

I am missing the start of Charlton's season and shall be in France watching Nimes, Dijon, Arles-Avignon and Niort over the next ten days and shall report back. Been watching Nimes Olympique for 35 years and they've always been a handy side. Saw Cantona play for them before he came to English football. Laurent Blanc and Ponce were playing in the same side, I seem to remember - must have been early 90s...

A few more snippets of Belgian/English transfer news here. We have asked KAA Gent about their 20 Year old defender Gilles Ruyssen who is on trial at Wolves. Meer: www.voetbalkrant.com/nl/nieuws/lees/2014-08-05/jonge-buffalo-op-weg-naar-engeland#ixzz39VYNbaLwEngland remains the promised land for Belgian football players, as it turns out yet again. KAA Gent no longer counting on Gilles Ruyssen and talented defender puts his career may continue across the Channel. The 20-year-old Ruyssen last year surfaced in Ghelamco Arena.
In early May, the young man appeared at the kickoff of the second playoff game against Lierse. Now, however, the player does not fit into the plans of Hein Vanhaezebrouck.
The defender seems to intend to go. Foreign adventure The Latest News knows Ruyssen currently on trial at Wolverhampton, an English team.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Belgian International Luarant Ciman is a target for Norwich City. Ciman was the only player not to take any part in their World Cup campaign. Strange one if he goes to Norwich given we are in the network and clearly asking about defenders as above. The Red Devils remain 'hot' in England. Second division Norwich City has its sights on Laurent Ciman. The defender said earlier they would like to stay in Liège.
Any English club Red Devil. It is the trend of recent years and the second-graders across the Channel to go along with that trend. Norwich City is still looking for a central defender and hopes Laurent Ciman wants to fill that vacancy. That writing several British media.
Ciman The 28-year-old can look back on an excellent season at Standard and saw that awarded a selection for the World Cup in Brazil. A few weeks ago, he mentioned that he would like to stay in Liège. Moreover, it is still to be seen whether, after Michy Batshuayi, Imoh Ezekiel, William Vainqueur and Yoni Buyens a strong holder must leave.www.sport.be/nl/jupilerproleague/nieuws/article.html?Article_ID=695949&utm_source=jupilerproleague.be&utm_campaign=sportbe_rss&utm_medium=rss--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gent also look set to lose Striker Habib Habibou who has tweeted that he is to join a club who play in red & white!!! Not many do in Holland apart from Standard and Mouscron-Peruweltz! www.voetbalkrant.com/nl/nieuws/lees/2014-08-05/verrast-habibou-met-transfer-naar-standard Habib Habibou may take his bags at KAA Gent, where coach Hein Vanhaezbrouck not counting on him. Where it goes is not yet clear, but on Twitter explained the striker already a corner of the veil on ... "A bit of white and a little red ..." was the somewhat mysterious tweet Habibou.
A signal that the 27-year-old striker from the Central African Republic on the road to Standard? The reactions of the followers Habibou immediately went completely. "Did you sign with Standard? Please tell me it is so! "And" Welcome to standard, "he said immediately.
