William Vainqueur is the latest big name player who is set to leave Standard Liege with Dinamo Moscow being the destination for the €5m rated midfielder.
The Frenchman was last season one of the pillars of the Rouches midfield and is another blow following the news that star striker Michy Batshuayi has left for Marseille while right back Daniel Opare has also departed for Porto..

Standard are looking at Tours striker Andy Delort to fill the hole left by Batshuayi joining Marseille. That's a big ask for him if he joins them from the French Lique 2.
Liege winger Ibrahima Cisse has also left them and joined KV Mechelen which is a surprise as I think he is better than that.
So this is how their summer has shaped up thus far:
Out's
Michy Batshuayi.....Marseille.....N/A Ibrahima Cissé.....Mechelen..... N/A Daniel Opare.....Porto.....N/A Danny Verbeek.....Utrecht....Loan Yoni Buyens.....Charlton.....Loan William Vainqueur.....Dinamo Moscow.....€6M

Interesting, given that SL is (was last season anyway) the hub for practically all the network loans. Maybe we will see a change of policy there, or indeed, as has been previously mentioned on this board, RD may be looking to sell SL

I said before that is Liege begin to sell their stars then it is likely Rolly will be looking to sell. You don't sell all your assets when you're thinking in the long-term.
Notice as well that Charlton are in the Belgian gala match and not Liege. It's clear that Rolly is switching his focus to us and away from Belgium. I think he's realized that he can make insane money if we get promoted. Remember, when we were in the Prem we were the only club that was making a profit and actually had financial reserves.

The players they are signing, on or two on 5 year deals by the way are not of the same ilk of those he is letting go.
23 year old Adrien Trebel has signed from Nantes, defender Jorge Filipe Avelino Texeira has come in from FC Zurich and Martin Milec on a five year deal from Slovenian club Maribor. Hardly household names and without doubt the first signs of a possible shift in power for RD.

The plot thickens and all the old gits insisting that RD and KM give assurances to their little gang that we are not to be a feeder club have appeared to have mugged themselves off! What a shame

More turmoil at Liege this morning as António Eduardo Pereira dos Santos, better know as Kanu, has threatened to end his contract and leave the club using the 1978 Belgian Law on Employment Contracts to help his cause. Standard have responded by stating they are not aware of the plans of Kanu with communications manager Olivier Smeets saying: "We have heard nothing about a possible breach of contract and will simply assume that Kanu remains with us,". Kanu has a contract until mid-2015 at Standard but now threatens the law of 78 used to be able to leave for a limited amount. Anderlecht are monitoring the situation and are very keen on the Brazilian defender which is what has sparked the whole thing off in by opinion.

This certainly adds more fuel to the fire, that RD is looking to offload SL.
Charlton in the premiership, would so easily be the jewel in the network crown.

I have always said that the Belgain Jupiler League, Anderlecht apart, is nowhere near as good as the Championship.
You only have to look at Zulte Waregem who only just finished behind Standard last season and Wigan knocked them out of the Europa League so it makes sense for RD to switch his priorities.
Anderlecht earned €8.6m Euros from the Champions League group stages last season which is dwarfed by the promotion money you can win from the championship.

Perhaps thats why Roland gave us Yoni. Locked him into a season long loan with Liege paying his wages and him being unable to be recalled. Katrien is an attorney after all, sure she knows all the legal loopholes to exploit.

Oh dear, following on from yesterday I can now confirm that Kanu has terminated his own contract at Standard Liege.
The Brazilian Centre Back has failed to show up for training and according to Standard has offered no explanation or apology and has not responded to calls from the club.
However Liege received a letter yesterday from Kanu's agent, in which the player breaks his contract with immediate effect according to the Belgian law of '78.
Standard have also been hit with another blow having failed to land their top striker target Andy Delort from Tours. The striker scored 24 goals in the French second division last season.
Meanwhile Israeli striker Dudu Biton has returned to Liege following a 6 month loan spell at Alcorcon last season.

So players in Belgium can just break their contracts when they feel like it? What's the point of having a contract then!?

It seems very strange. I'm probably completely wrong, but I would have thought that any Belgian employment law of '78, would have been replaced by an EU one by now.

Something is afoot at SL whether it's up for sale or being downgraded within the network but CAFC must be the jewell in the crown

Latest from Liege:
Standard's have made a second bid for Tours striker Andy Delort after an initial bid was rejected because of the interest shown by French club Lens. Another target for Les Rouches is Lokeren striker Hamdi Harbaoui who is seen as a possible replacement to Michy Batshuayi.
Belgian international Laurent Ciman is a target for French club St.Etienne. The two clubs meet in a friendly in Belgium on July 19th.
Tal Ben Haim will join Charlton this week.

After the departure of Michy Batshuayi , William Vainqueur and Yoni Buyens and Kanu, it now seems that striker Imoh Ezekiel is next to exit Standard Liege with the Bundesliga being his likely destination.
The Nigerian is high on the wanted list of Werder Bremen, Schalke 04, Herta Berlin and Mönchengladbach and missed training to fly to Germany yesterday to discuss a move.
Ezekiel scored 32 times in 89 matches for Liege and his departure would be a real financial boost to Liege. In 2012 Les Rouches paid €200,000 to Nigerian second division club 36 Lions and the player is now valued at €5m.

Why are Liege selling so many first team players?

Why are Liege selling so many first team players? Because Roland wants to capitalize his profits before he sells. It's the only thing that makes sense. He already made back his initial investment in purchasing the club, so anything from here on is extra. Appears likely that CAFC or Alcorcon will become his new focus, as both can provide more revenue than Liege if either get promoted.

Roland had stated lately that he won't sell Standard (unlike he said before), and he won't. Standard has brilliant youth teams, so there still a load of money to make there. My thoughts are that he's just waiting until the prices drop to get some players in, the only problem with that is that the 1st league match is next weekend. However, today there's an evening for sponsors and some representatives from the supporters where he will reveal his plans (regarding SL) for the near future

Ezekiel Gone!!Immediately after the match between Standard and Panathinaikos made Imoh Ezekiel announced that he is leaving Standard. "This was my last game at Standard," he said after he had said goodbye to the fans. Imoh Ezekiel put an end to the rumors about his future. He confirmed after the European match against Panathinaikos leaving for Qatar . Again a heavy loss to sports coach Guy Luzon and the supporters. "This was my last game at Standard," he said after he had said goodbye to the fans. "I will miss this club, and certainly the ardent supporters. Simply That's part of football. It's a shame that I could not score today, but I hope that Standard will win next week."
