Hi everybody ! First of all, I'd like to apologise for my low level of english but I felt like I had to warn you about Roland Duchatelet. I am deeply sorry for all of you for being bought by Roland Duchatelet which owns my club : Standard de Liège. A quick reminder of why we hate him : - During his first season (2011-2012) as administrator of the club, he appointed a coach which only managed poor teams during his carreer and bought average players. As a result, we didn't qualify for an European Cup which is a minimum goal for a club like Standard. The manager left for a club in Qatar so we had to find a new coach. The sympathy Duchatelet had toward him at the beginning of the season was losing ground. - He appointed Ron Jans and he presented him as one of the best young manager of Europe. Meanwhile, he paid huge amount of money for players which later didn't prove to be that good (Frederic Bulot, Astrit Ajdarevic, Yohann Tavares). As a result, the coach was sacked after 3 months because we were 12th. The first signs of revolution were seen at the big game against Anderlecht (our arch enemy). www.youtube.com/watch?v=CovVOjUPt_w - While seeking for a new manager, he said to the journalists that he had had advanced talks with Ariel Jacobs (former manager of Anderlecht, nonsense). Imagine Liverpool seeking to appoint Sir Alex Ferguson. He finally appointed Mircea Rednic, former legend of the club. Rednic (great decision, finally). Rednic did AMAZING job, qualifying us for Europa League. He fired Rednic and appointed Guy Luzon, a coach who had very little experience outside Israel. In the meantime, he took 20millions euros out of the "club money". His excuse was "the reason is to pay less tax but the supporters don't have to worry, the money stays in the group which I own (=Elex)". This leaded to 5,000 supporters in the street wanting his resignement. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFE9zFHg2qY If you have any questions, don't hesitate. I didn't read the all topic so I may be reapeating stuff you've already read. PS : all the players that are rumoured to join you are absolute rubbish (Reza, Iandoli, Biton and so on).

Hi and welcome to our forum, watching that video brings back memories of when I was there in 1993.
I understand why this happened but today Standard are the top team in Belgium and the fans are happy so has the fans behaviour changed towards Duchatelet?

Apparently we have requested/enquired about Reza Ghoochannejhad who ... Wait for it ... Plays for standard liege of course owned by roland! Could be the plan various Belgians on here were pointing to that be would send players to his other teams to improve etc He's rubbish. Roland does that often. For example, our substitute left-back Alessandro Iandoli is a player of Sint-Truiden VV (Belgian team playing in the equivalent of the Championship = Second division). Sint-Truiden which is owned by Duchatelet (well, officially by his wife) of course. This summer, Iandoli was lended to Standard de Liege but he was really bad considering the expected level of the players of Standard. He played a few games for us but he's now returning to Sint-Truiden.

But Landoli is an Eerste League player going to the Jupiler League so he was going to find it difficult yes?
Landoli was never going to be as good as your normal left back Fabrice N'Sakala?

Hi and welcome to our forum, watching that video brings back memories of when I was there in 1993. I understand why this happened but today Standard are the top team in Belgium and the fans are happy so has the fans behaviour changed towards Duchatelet? Well, after the events of this summer (the video posted above), Roland decided to extend the key players' contracts (William Vainqueur, Michy Batshuayi) and he bought two former legends of Standard (Medhi Carcela from Anzhi Makachkala and Igor De Camargo from Monchengladbach). So, many supporters changed their minds. But for most of us, playing good in the European Cups is primordial and this year has been a nightmare. We finished 4th of our group while our opponents were not that good. We played rubbish in the Europa League because Roland thinks this competition is not important so he forced the manager to make many substitutions during the European games. This is truly unacceptable for us. Here's a picture taken 4 weeks ago : scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/1531930_10151830828237286_96763894_n.jpg It says : A president without ambition, Luzon (our manager) as a coach, a team with no motivation, don't be surprised if there is an explosion.

Yes but we had a very good left-back last year (Diabaté) but his contract was not extended for no obvious reason. In the meantime, we see Iandoli coming knowing that he was going to be rubbish. Many transferts are completely nonsense because he decides who to buy while admitting on TV that he know nothing about football. You'll see soon, he decides everything in the club while being ignorant and admitting it. But our LB is Van Damme (Captain), N'Sakala plays for our arch enemy

I have to be honest, all this takeover talk is doing my nut in, I'm up one minute down the next I have no clue what is what any more. But one takeover I am happy with is Alnwick taking over from Hamer in our goal, the man earned that point today!!

For example : he said on "Contreverse", a wildely watched sunday show how he choosed his managers.
Duchatelet : "I say to the manager : there's a 0.8 chance that the pass a player is giving arrives to his teamate. What is the probabilty to have 8 successive passes between team-mates ?" He's no Vincent Tan but that's unacceptable for us.

Standard Liege should have won their Europa League group easily, the opposition really was that poor but the Luzon played reserve players not wanting to sacrifice your position at the top of the Belgium League.
If Liege want Champions League football the Jupiler league must take priority over the Europa and this is what happened.
I would not be concerned by Luzon or Duchatelet doing this. We have a team over here in Charlton's league called Wigan Athletic who got relegated from the Premier League last season and really should be near the top but they have also played Europa League football that has affected their league performances. If you ask their owner he would also say that he would prefer to be at the top of the league than winning Europa League games.

We have a previous Chairman with us called Richard Murray. He knew nothing about football when he took us over and 6 years on he still doesn't.
One of our previous managers signed a defender called Souleymaine Diarawa from Sochaux. he played 23 games and left for Bordeaux, our owner said at the time that 'He was the best centre half that he had never heard of'!!
All Standard have to do this season is win the Jupiler and everything will be forgotten among fans.
The Jupiler is not as good as it once was as Gent and Genk are not powerful as they once were and Mechelen have also become very weak but it has been good seeing Zulte emerge and also little Kortrijk who play well in their own stadium.

This is even more frustrating when you watch the tremendous efforts that Rednic had to do last year to qualify. But I'm not here to tell you everything about my club I just want you to realize that, for a president, getting 5,000 angry supporters in the streets in less than 3 years is no easy thing to do. Here's a video of supporters breaking into his office to ask (ask is a polite word) for his resignement. Imagine how upset we have been to do such extreme things : www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaoGnqUFPcs

I just want it over with now. We need someone who will pump in cash. Sit in the stands and let Powell get us safe this season.

We heard it thanks to british journalists (Dailymail I think). But we think that he's buying Charlton because he's going to sell Standard soon. But as we know him, he normally want full power in his clubs. He fired the director of the club Pierre Francois because he was deciding things without Duchatelet's opinion (which is normally the role of a director !!!).

But as our sportive manager is weak, he didn't say anything. Another example : the sportive manager told the press once "Pocognoli (brilliant player) will stay at Standard, I promise". Few days later, he was sold to Hannover because Duchatelet decided so.

It would be crazy to sell Standard and miss out on the Champions League money in the hunt for Premier League money with Charlton.
It is a 100% fact that Liege will get into the Champions League long before Charlton reach the Premier League. For us to make it there an owner will have to spend at least £5million on new players.

I agree with you saying Sébastien Pocognoli is a very good player but he made a mistake joining Hannover when he is capable of much better. Hannover are not as good as they were last season but the 2m euros they paid for him was a bargain.

I've told you the news mate not sure why what Angeldust says is any further advanced than what I have said, I have even named names and where they come from.
Slater has decided to jet off to the sun for a week so let's up his input is not a necessity in any take over talks that are still to take place.
I think the Belgian is the outsider unless he is fronting a bigger group just like the Ukranian is with the German consortium.
Harris'is a big player too and his group are back in town.
