We still need to get rid of the deadwood. Midfielder, central defender and another striker.

I have done a strikethrough the players names who we need to offload and bring better players in, who play in their position. I just don't think they are good enough.
Goalkeepers
Harry Isted
Ashley Maynard-Brewer Will Mannion
Right Backs
Nathan Asiimwe Kayne Ramsay
Tennai Watson
Centre Backs
Rarmani Edmonds-Green Macaulay Gillesphey Lloyd Jones
Lucas Ness Alex Mitchell
Left Backs
Tayo Edun Thierry Small Josh Edwards
Central Midfielders
Karoy Anderson
Conor Coventry Luke Berry Scott Fraser
Terry Taylor
Midfielders/Wingers
Tyreece Campbell
Strikers
Chuks Aneke
Daniel Kanu Miles Leaburn Alfie May
PS just running through that list has made me realise how lightweight we are. Just not enough in the squad at all.

Not sure what REG is either - not convinced he’s a centre back. Utility player?

I would keep Coventry and get rid of Fraser who won’t suit our style of play. I think Coventry deserves a chance to show what he can do with better players around him.

Isted will be going as will AMB, We need a third keeper so I imagine one will stay as cover. Isted will have more interest in him than AMB so Im guessing he'll be the one that leaves.

Need: Gkp Centre Back At least 2 midfielders Winger 1-2 forwards So still 6 to 7 if not more players needed I said exactly this on a separate thread last night and another poster said it was unrealistic for us to get another 6-7 quality players in……. But let’s look at the current squad and see where some of them may be or may not be by 31st August….. Either Isted or AMB or both will be gone as we will then have our first choice keepers in We look fine down the left hand side Small and Edward’s so where does that leave Edun…..probably at somewhere like Burton Ramsay looks decent but I don’t think Jones is totally convinced with Watson as he struggled to complete games and I would personally try and bring Assime in as deputy as I believe out of all of youngster this fella has the most potential. Terry Taylor and Lloyd Jones disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle of footballers apparently both injured but not once did I hear Jones talking them up and just don’t think this bodes well……I can see Taylor going back to someone like Burton but I think Jones will stay Fraser’s heart looks well and truly Scottish bound and I can see our management team very keen to,come to some sort of compromise to get his wages off the books Not sure if NJ is fully convinced about Coventry and Anderson will no doubt be floating around the first team squad Gillesphey and Reg came in in January but struggled to get game time and very interestingly Jones kept playing both Thomas and Hector in front of them even though we were conceding really poor goals so what does that tell you…..It doesn’t bode well I think…..Also I think NJ likes his defenders big and physical and both Edward’s and Mitchell look like they could run the door at Stringfellows…….. So with Kanu not quite ready to being regularly at this level, Chucks only being used as a 20 minute sub most weeks and Miles not due back until October that leaves our attacking options rather limited with or without the Alfie debate… So personally I don’t think 6-7 new players is not just unreasonable I think it may be a necessity bearing in mind the uncertantity within the current squad

Campbells short term potential is impact sub only if the game necessitates width and pace

Just not enough in the squad at all. Of those nine you highlight, Paul, three I don’t see going anywhere. One of those keepers will stay, as will Coventry and Aneke. Two wing backs will probably go on loan or sold. Leaving the need for quality replacements / upgrades on one keeper, Ness, Taylor and Kanu. And we've yet to hear the full story on both May and Leaburn. As posted elsewhere, we absolutely need to improve our attacking threat before the start of the season, along with a new decent keeper.

I reckon we need a very minimum of six more signings . One goalkeeper , ideally Walton but probably either Ruddy or Davies . One experienced centre back , ideally Bradley . Two midfielders , but one more of a number ten . Two strikers , I have not included Ahadme so he could be one and maybe a premier loan the other .

It's looking pretty streamlined like the boss wanted. Lose Fraser get younger fitter replacement. And as much as I like chuks we need another younger fitter player of that mold. It's clear the unfit players were left out at end of season to give them a longer recuperation period. Another GK as it looks like he doesnt fancy amb or isted. However they may benefit from the revamped defence. Exciting times ahead

Zach Mitchell & Aaron Henry are still on the books as well I think? Good shout. I've added them in. Henry is the forgotten one. I can't see him playing any part for us going forwards. I assume we will look to sell. Zach could be a loan I imagine. He needs regular footy.

I’m still gutted camara never worked out. He was one I was so excited about last year. High energy , presser, athletic . Typical jones player really , wonder where he’ll end up.
Still think we are way short , was hoping for a couple of marquee signings but doesn’t look like we’ll be getting one

We need to get decent loan players. Other successful clubs have had them.
I know Nathan Jones didn't work out at Southampton but maybe he has some contacts there, and as they just got promoted back to the Premier League, maybe they have some playres who are not ready for the first team yet there.
Also obviously Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, even Crystal Palace (like Jesurun Rak Sayki) or West Ham.

You beat me to it. I can feel another Season of mid table mediocrity coming on. Blimey guys, always value both your opinions but isn’t it a bit early to be throwing in the towel?…..if today was Aug 10th or 31st Aug I would be as pissed off as you both sound……but I will base my opinion on when we line up at Wigan……..plenty more twists and turns before this time IMO

Ness, Taylor and Kanu need more time to assess, and in settled, suitable roles. I think a lighter Aneke might surprise us. Fraser? FFS. Gillesphy is not a solid defender, must go.

I wouldn't judge any of our defenders until we see them play with a new, better keeper and a new look midfield. So many games last season we were on the backfoot being over run, despite a top six budget. Those players do need to get out on loan, whereas we will all want to see Anderson, Small and Leaburn develop in our Matchday squad. I'd say add that keeper plus one more quality midfielder and it starts to look convincing... on paper!

I'd like to make a case for keeping Aneke as it seems like the club is serious about making a promotion effort. Even if it's for 10 games / season, you know that he will most likely be a deciding factor in a couple of games. And those games can make the difference between 2nd or 3rd or 6th/7th. Heck even if it's just for the playoffs.
Can't imagine you can find a player of such quality for his annual cost, who is also "happy" with his role to come off the bench, and who knows the club inside out.
