I'd like to make a case for keeping Aneke as it seems like the club is serious about making a promotion effort. Even if it's for 10 games / season, you know that he will most likely be a deciding factor in a couple of games. And those games can make the difference between 2nd or 3rd or 6th/7th. Heck even if it's just for the playoffs. Can't imagine you can find a player of such quality for his annual cost, who is also "happy" with his role to come off the bench, and who knows the club inside out. Well we don’t have much choice in the matter as he still has a year left on his contract…..🤣…..and I would very much doubt any club would come in and try and buy him on the alledege wages he is on and his injury record,,…

Does anyone else think Terry Taylor could play a big part in our team this year? Or just me..
One of his best attributes are his free kicks / cornners, crossing and getting the ball up top quickly. Our squad this year should suit him a lot more I imagine. He's also very good at the defensive side.
I don't get all the disrepect he gets on other forums. He wasn't fit at the start of the season and got a bad injury so I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

Jury is out for me…..he disappeared in the limited games that he played in and looked to me a basic water carrier type of player… Very happy for him to prove me wrong and I will be the first to hold my hands up if the fella does the business…..but I would still see him as very much a squad player in a promotion chasing side

Hope that this season he can earn his place and prove the doubters wrong.

Yes seeing his performance in the two friendlies and the general videos of team bonding he looks fit and really enjoying his time at CAFC which as we know will help him on the pitch as well

Think a lot depends on who leaves now especially in the GK department .
Perhaps another CB althrough Zac Mitchell done himself no harm in the friendlies so far ..
And still like to see another number 10 come in especially if we lose Fraser

The final few signings could be amongst the most important for us to have a promotion chasing season, my concern at this stage is not the spine of the team which looks fine… it’s the back up players as it’s a bloody long season……

What they have now is six or seven weeks of the window to source a new keeper, train, enhance fitness and see what the gaps are. Who knows who will be available and at what price? We then have 20 games Sept-Dec before the January window opens. So they need to decide which Academy players are suitable cover and which should go out on loan. So many moving parts - let's wait and see what they do.

This squad is nowhere near a promotion winning squad. Lacking a creative number ten, another forward, goalkeeper and a central defender.

Now I know things are likely to change but starting the season with Mannion in goal and in front having Jones and Mitchell with either REG or Gillesphy making up the three doesn't instill me with confidence. Adding to that no natural goalscorer in midfield and at some point if Hylton were to sign the combination of our front two could be 68 years of age.

Yes we need another 4 or 5 in with a similar number going the other way, but I think the squad will be in a stronger place by the end of August. One thing I'm pretty sure of is we will play more attractive football, it's been dire for a good while now and it would be good to be able to have more positive discussions.

Mannion doesn’t concern me until NJ finds his number one……playing Gillesphey with Jones and Mitchell does concern me…….He is a squad player at best…….Us giving Hylton any kind of contract would concern me big time….

We've only retained 55% of the minutes played last season so how will the new arrivals gel? Plus we have no visibility of Miles Leaburn's progress, nor how many appearances he might make. If we only need three more quality additions then that means we have 22 already in the building. That's 88%!
