I'm afraid I have the same news. Looks like he's gone. For all the fans who are going to kick off about this I suggest you consider this. Alfie could have said no and stayed and fought for his place. do you believe a replacement is therefore imminent? I think once Alfie is announced as a Huddersfield player we will look to placate fans by announcing our own new striker(s) within hours to be honest.

This has to be the case, or else you can just see us getting priced out of the market by clubs who know how desparate we will be for a striker. We were told today he was going nowhere until our targets were over the line, so this is either the fact, or they have bottled it and gone for the cash! Big 24 hours incoming..

His wife's family lives in Doncaster. He still has a house there. He will be on higher wages playing for a manager who by his own admission has done so much for him. As if he's turn all that down to sit on the bench at Charlton just to be near his family.

Regardless of him wanting out or not, somebody at the club should have the bottle (or common sense, or foresight, or understanding of the transfer window) to actually mean it when they say that we won't sell until we have replacements through the door.
How many players have we supposedly missed out on because the club we are buying from missed out on their main target? (Rhetorical - it happens every single window).

It's happening weather people like it or not.
Just need to invest correctly and we go again.

I don't to be honest, and am hoping we have. Big PR job if not! Replacements for Dobson and CBT also required sooner rather than later (though again, not sure we haven't done this already).

Coventry and Taylor replacements for Dobson and we don’t need to replace CBT cause we are not playing with out and out wingers but we now have brought in two left sided wing backs

If you can't chip in with goals then you shouldn't be in the side. You are talking bollocks regarding Taylor. There is nothing to suggest he will be at the club next season.

If Alfie goes and his replacements don't perform, After the shameful incompetent Dobson saga ,
I for one will ; without a doubt make this my last Season ticket.
Last chance saloon, NJ will have to prove to the likes of me , that he is our way forward to getting us out of this league.

Jones is certainly taking a big gamble letting May go, especially if he performs well for Huddersfield and our replacements don't do as well for us.

Alfie’s been told the plans for the upcoming season and he hasn’t liked them… therefore packed his bags and the club have got a very good deal out of the situation by the sounds of it
It’s win/win for both I’m pretty sure NJ and AM have shook hands and left it at that
What’s the point of having an unhappy player sat on a bench with the team playing football that doesn’t suit them - it might have a worse effect keeping him, we don’t know where his heads at - his going back to play under a manager he likes might be something his wanted to do for ages
Its gutting that Alfie is off as I liked him and his goals, one year in the shirt (our worst league finish in history) doesn’t earn you hero status
Good luck to him if this happens and I look forward to seeing who we bring in

Huddersfield Fan coming in peace here!!
We are all wondering what on earth is going on with this saga! It’s quiet on our end but our “ITKs” are convinced that we have agreed a fee!
However it seems strange that you are selling arguably the best striker in the league?! I personally think you have the best manager in the league in jones, however i know he’s one to take no shit! Has there been a fall out?
If anyone has any updates let me know! Good luck for the season Addicks.

From what I have heard, it seems May doesn't fit the type of player mould that Jones likes.
May is very small and cannot win a ball in the air defending corners or free kicks and the word is Jones prefers big forwards who can help out in defence.
May was a willing runner and always gave 100% and he is a natural goal scorer but he is limited in other areas of the pitch and Jones wants a team who can play all over the pitch.

He's a goalscorer and bags of energy but Jones typically likes a more physical team especially in the lower leagues. Even towards the end of last season Alfie started a few games on the bench for us so if we're going to be getting north of £1.2mil (which is the believed fee), then I suppose it would make sense for Nathan to reinvest it into players he really wants. Fans are pretty much divided on it as although he's guaranteed goals in this league, the wider team is clearly more important as Charlton and Cheltenham have done sweet nothing whilst Alfie has been banging them in. Just ironic we're finally getting the type of players that might kick us on, and we're losing 20+ goals in Alfie.
